It's easy to defy the Forces of Evil when it's only your own ass on the line. But the Forces of Evil aren't stupid. They know that punishing the Real Man won't work. So what they do is target the Real Man's wife and kids and make them suffer for the crimes of the Real Man.

If everyone think it acceptable to sacrifice freedom for their individual/family benefit we will have no freedom for anyone.
Did the Founders only fight once their families were guaranteed safety? You do the best you can and you fight for principle. This isn't the only world we will live in, it's just the current one.

I love Jacob Lawrence and I agree with the notion that he is the most proennmit African American painter in US history. His painting never fail to draw me and touch me on a very deep level.
