Another Brick in the Road

Tesla Motors' Devastating Design Problem Tesla Motors' lineup of all-electric vehicles...
apparently suffer from a severe limitation that can largely destroy the value of the vehicle. If the battery is ever totally discharged, the owner is left with what Tesla describes as a "brick": a completely immobile vehicle that cannot be started or even pushed down the street. The only known remedy is for the owner to pay Tesla approximately $40,000 to replace the entire battery.

Your Say

Fascinating paradox here:

One of the principals of Tesla is also the founder of SpaceX, a private launch firm with an entirely antithetical business model than Tesla.

SpaceX is entrepreneurship personified, while Tesla is blatant green cronysm thar feeds at the public trough.

If you can afford a Tesla, you can afford to repair the stupidity for buying one in the first place.

I wonder. Just wonder. If there was a government school engineer running that project.

According to GM itself, Chevy Volt buyers have a median income of $170K. When they buy a Volt they get a $7500 rebate from you and me. Teleprompter Man wants that rebate to go up to $10,000.

I wish Elon would ditch Tesla and concentrate on SpaceX. That's where he can do some real good.
