Setting the Treadmill to 3.5 MPH from Here On

How Fast Does the Grim Reaper Walk ?
The Grim Reaper’s preferred walking speed is 0.82 m/s (2 miles (about 3 km) per hour) under working conditions. As none of the men in the study with walking speeds of 1.36 m/s (3 miles (about 5 km) per hour) or greater had contact with Death, this seems to be the Grim Reaper’s most likely maximum speed; for those wishing to avoid their allotted fate, this would be the advised walking speed.

Your Say

I've had a treadmill/standing desk for a few years and highly recommend one to others. All you need is a treadmill, a precut wodden shelf to lay across the treadmill handles and wire kitchen cooling rack, which acts as a laptop holder. Lash the cooling rack to the magazine holder of the treadmill. Lay the wooden shelf across the treadmill handles and poof you have a standing desk.

I mount the laptop where it is comfortable to view, attach a keyboard and mouse and put them on the shelf and turn internet time into walking time. I routinely walk until the treadmill turns off after 99 minutes and 99 seconds. I don't have to find time in my schedule, I put the treadmill into my time doing other things.

Home shopping Network often has good value treadmills from ProForm for $700 with free shipping, that saves you about $150.

You want a treadmill with 2.5-2.75 hp or higher for long-term durability. You won't likely use any of the other fancy features but that's a personal decision. You don't need the devices for exercising arms, small free weights are cheaper, more flexible, more usable.

One of the perks of being a damned good house painter is that all the high-end clients have stuff they want to get rid of, like the expensive furniture or appliances they bought last year, but doesn't go with the new redesigned kitchen of this year. Or the York recumbent bicycle that normally sells for more than a thousand bucks, but happily gotten off their hands for free.

Treadmill speeds do not match ground speeds. On measured outdoor walks I easily go at 3.6 mph. When I am on a treadmill 2.8 to 3.0 mph is the highest I find comfortable.
