The "Occutantrum"

A clique of privileged U.C. Berkeley students, upset
that they're the top 1% of elite students in the state and thus disqualified from participating in the Occupy movement, could no longer contain their frustration on Wednesday and threw an Occutantrum, attempting to "occupy" a few square yards of the 1,200-acre campus. The police dutifully played their roles in the street theater performance, showing up in riot gear and looking scary so the privileged students could shout at them and feel properly revolutionary, as instructed by their professors. -- Zombie [HT: Jewel ]

Your Say

I posted that link on FB earlier. Nice discussion of OWS is there, but then, most FB noobs will never read anything that long.

Oops. Meant to post this in the link just below...

The police were there to quell any dustup by the OWS against the Occutantrum.

I tried posting comments on blogspot sites, and for whatever reason, Google isn't allowing anyone to log in and post, at least that is what I've found. So I'll rant about the ranters here. Ann Barnhardt has an excellent piece on waging a true revolt. Whatever your feelings are about her, she's spot on with this. A lot of people are talking about what it will take to get the actual taxpayer to revolt, and I think it will not be something we come to expect as a revolt the way protesting as performance art has become for the left. I think, that finally, once Americans are served the bill in the form of new, crushing mandates and taxes, and realize that they can't pay it, they won't pay it, and quietly, without riots, the government will just fall.
Maybe that's too optimistic, but there comes a time when you realize that all you are doing is selling the rope to the hangman. It isn't going to matter a hill of beans who's in power. We ultimately have the power, because we choose to allow the government to collect the money we earn to give it to people who do not work. As long as we consent to this, it will continue.

Jewel thanks for this piece! In addition to Ann's prediction, I think they will methodically make law-breakers of us, one by one. How? By simply regulating the life out of us. Literally. Isn't that happening already? Regarding the excerpt, we mustn't forget, these rich 1 percenters pay for the police and their pensions. They are all in it together.
