Over and over

Over and over the debt ceiling has been raised. Over and over the Federal budget has not been reduced. And of course, the Supercommittee has failed.
So what will break first? Well, the consent of the governed is practically broken. And as soon as the OWS crowd starts chanting 'Taxation Without Representation', they will merge with the Tea Party and real democratic change will become inevitable. I see it. Can you? -- The Conservative Side of OWS - Cobb

Your Say

“And as soon as the OWS crowd starts chanting 'Taxation Without Representation', they will merge with the Tea Party…”

Yup, just like water and gasoline. One is the basis for the life of liberty according to our founding documents and the other wants to set it all ablaze and start over with some utopian socialist fantasy (’cause it’s failed everywhere it’s been tried, hello) land filled with unicorns and rainbows.

There will be no merging, there is no common ground, period, full stop. No matter what every other dickwad wants to pontificate and wet dream about. No self respecting constitution thumbing Tea Patriot would dare been seen standing next to the self absorbed, whining “what can the government do for me” anarchist, hippie winnable, “give me a free college education” trans gender studies idiot.

I’m not sure what I’m more bored with; the flea infested, drugged out, child molesting Occupy jagoffs or the delusional wackjobs who keep wanted to sell me some misguided “common ground” bullshit and tell me “it taste great, honest just add some Tabasco”.

Fuckoff, thankyouverymuch.

They will use "taxation without representation" but only against Republicans. This is a push for their representation (the Democrats and the Obama Administration) to ram their socialist agenda through. I think Obama was hoping it would be a bigger and more popular movement in order to intimidate the citizens, incite extremism, burden the cities, demonize the Republicans and the conservatives and the Tea Party, especially the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. All this talk of circumventing Congress is no joke, since he can still blame Bush for the bail-outs. The protests are also keeping Solyndra and Fast and Furious and the death of border agent Brian Terry out of the news. No. The Tea Party will never merge with the OWS, regardless of how many times they claim to be the 99%.

I'll third that motion.

A sh*t sandwich is a sh*t sandwich no matter how much honey you slather on it.

I guess I'll have to take the minority view. I like Cobb's commentary as well as the video he linked. I've also looked at some more of the "StormCloudsGathering" videos and I really like them. This one is also quite good. The slaughterhouse cartoon is an instant classic.

I read Karl Denninger's Market Ticker site and he's been saying all along that we should take OWS seriously, and that there is common ground between them and the Tea Party. He regards it as a teachable moment.

The impression I get is that Tea Party people tend to be older, and Occupy people tend to be younger. I could be totally wrong about that, but that's the impression I get. We know that the left has taken control of our educational system over the past few decades. If there seems to be more of a leftist slant among the Occupiers, why should we be surprised? That's what they've been taught. It's all they know. It's all the more reason for those of us who are older and wiser to take those kids under our wing and try to deprogram them.

Much of the commentary about OWS I've seen at conservative websites is downright infantile. It mostly takes the form of mockery and ridicule of "stupid smelly hippies" without the slightest effort to address their grievances or even regard them as fellow human beings. I've seen plenty of so-called "limited government conservatives" waxing orgasmic with fantasies about the police busting their skulls open. Some take it even further than that and seem to be looking forward to a civil war, when they'll be able to shoot them themselves. (Here's a news flash: If it comes down to a war between the generations, us oldsters are going to lose.)

Certainly many of the Occupiers are mixed up and confused, and don't know what they really want. There are plenty of accounts of Communists, druggies, perverts, and criminals among their ranks. I have no doubt that most of those accounts are true. But I draw the line at painting them with a broad brush and saying, "They're ALL like that." I don't believe that for a second.

(I tried this comment with a link and it didn't work. I'll try it again without the link.)
