Into the Earth, Junior Birdmen!: Air Force Academy adapts to pagans, druids, witches and Wiccans

Officials say an $80,000 Stonehenge-like worship center underscores a commitment to embrace all religions. -- latimes.com [Sigh.]

Your Say

Just workin' to remove any full Federal funding from any religious thing -- chapels, chaplains, religious programs of any type.

So we spent 80 grand to get some rocks put in a circle. But that's separate from (though on the grounds of?) the main chapel.

So can we have crosses in the hills now?

Will "normal" folks be willing to cut their own religion's military support to keep this sort of thing from being funded?

Or will we soon be funding things for the branch Davidians, the Peoples' temple, and so forth?

1. The military has chaplains to minister to the religious needs of its people.

2. Wiccans are part of the military, because it is wrong to exclude any religion.

3. Therefore, the military will have Wiccan chaplains and services, if the population density is there to support them.

4. The religious beliefs of the Wiccans are as valid as yours.

5. All such beliefs seem a bit absurd from my atheist viewpoint - and that also includes the socialist and environmentalist religions.

6. Our Battalion had a Wiccan chaplain for a while:
a) A nice, dedicated Captain who did her job
b) Oddly, It never rained on our battalion
c) If you are wondering, she wore an
insignia that looked like the White Tree
that the Gondor Citadel Guard have on
their shields in LOTR [subdued, of course]
d) The Captain that replaced her was an
Episcopalian lady.

It's just a matter of incremental time before we'll be forced to finance sweat lodges and obsidian knives for pyramid altars.
