Dear Terri, Experts have gone from certain to "unlikely." Sorry about killing you out of hand.

Brain Exam Detects Awareness in 3 ‘Vegetative’ Patients - NYTimes.com

The case of Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman who became unresponsive after her heart stopped and who was removed from life support in 2005, became a political and family controversy. Doctors say it is unlikely that the EEG test would have changed the diagnosis in that case.
NYT throws this factoid in just in case you were concerned about Schiavo. Don't you feel reassured?

Too late now, her husband got what he wanted: a dead wife so he could marry his new girl.

I wish the NYT would demonstrate more leadership by example in terminating the potentially brain-dead.

And leave them with no staff?

Lest we forget: in Mrs. Schiavo's case, "removed from life support" as the Times blithely puts it, did NOT mean "removed from a battery of beeping machines." It meant merely this: "withdrawal of a feeding tube, thus facilitating slow death by dehydration and starvation over a period of 12 days."

"...every man did that which was right in his own eyes." Judges 21:25

This was the issue which caused the Lord to turn from Israel, as it is for the US in the present. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. We need to repent of our collective as well as personal sins and turn back to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There will be those who ignore or blast this post because God is considered either dead or nonexistent. To those, I say, God will not be mocked. He calls to us daily, "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:" Deuteronomy 30:19
