It was understandably awkward for the sitting president, what with Ramadan just coming to a close. Not that he's Muslim or anything. And even if he was, not that there would be anything wrong with that. Poor, poor torn man. Torn in so many directions - religiously, ideologically, racially - when all he really wants to do is play golf. We really should cut him a break, especially with Al Jazeera English posting an oped by Tom Engelhardt suggesting we should collectively, of course, forget 9/11. I believe it said "we should forget it for the greater good" or something brilliant like that. We really shouldn't have expected the president to participate in all that flag-waving nationalism. I'm sure it made him very uncomfortable.
