Clint Eastwood: ‘I don’t give a f*ck’ if gays marry

"I was an Eisenhower Republican when I started out at 21, because he promised to get us out of the Korean War," he told GQ. "And over the years, I realized there was a Republican philosophy that I liked. And then they lost it. And libertarians had more of it. Because what I really believe is, let's spend a little more time leaving everybody alone." -- | The Raw Story

Your Say

Oooh baby I have a new mantra. Let us indeed spend more time leaving everyone else alone. Thanks, Clint!

Strawman argument. You could do exactly what that first commenter (in the piece) is describing over in the UK, have civil unions -- recognize homosexual unions and equivalent rights within them, leave the word "marriage" to describe man-and-woman unions -- and 99% of the gay-marriage opponents I know, would be perfectly fine with that. Is there really a movement to stop gay...um...enjoining/intertwining? I suppose some people might wish to, but I don't know if they're doing anything about it besides preaching in televangelism shows.

On the other hand, I do know of many who are actively crusading to use the word "marriage" for gay couplings, and they're not happy with the civil union compromise. That, I think, is where we need to be finding out what the f*ck is going on.

I think every sexuality and gender should have its own peculiar institution of marriage as long as no one by word, thought, or deed including policy or ruling, is compelled to recognize it for any purpose.

I look forward to photographing the polypedopride parades. Such vibrant diversity and color!

Many thanks to ErisGuy! Second sentence of your comment gave me the best laugh I've had in days!

Here, here to being left alone. Could we please?
