When did they start substituting the Temperature/ Humidity Index for the actual temperature?
Posted by: BillT at July 20, 2011 2:15 PM
Where'd the "116" for DC come from? Is that a "heat index?" It sure ain't an actual temperature, which is supposed to reach 100 by friday or something.
Gee, Washington DC has usually had 100-degree days most Summers.
What's the fuss?

It's like grade inflation, guys. Grades no longer mean anything but what you feel they ought to mean. Just a way of exaggerating how bad things are so that Washington does something about it.

Living in or near Seattle for more years than I care to remember, I can stoically accept some rain in July, but godammit it was cold yesterday! My feets were blue!

62ยบ sounds pretty damn fine to me. I'm more of a spring & fall kind of person. I mostly huddle indoors when it's hot or cold.

It was a feature not a bug. Every one went away in May and did not come back until October. Then they invented air conditioning and the country has gone to hell in a handbasket.
