Your Say

HA! Great headline. Perfect pictures.

What's not to like about a draft-dodging, pinko, serially-married guy who thought he was the savior of America and was admired by ignorant hippies? Funny how liberals always, but always, believe they are defending the very country they seek to destroy from within.

Figures he wrote Anthony Weiner's favorite tune, "This Gland is Your Gland."

Woodie's guitar would better read: "This machine supports fascists".

Yeah.. it's very easy for entertainers, writers and educators enjoying the benefits of America's prosperity and security to make any political statement they want.
Which machine actually protects their freedom to do so?

Posted by: RedCarolina at June 2, 2011 4:50 PM

RedCarolina - Easy. The voting machine. Which over 40% of Americans couldn't be bothered to use, last Presidential election.

As for the Apache - well, protect people's freedoms it isn't designed to do. What it is designed to do is break things and kill people. And it's the President's job to decide what things need breaking and what people need killing - and he often does that very badly indeed.

My bad - it's not an Apache. The same comments, however, apply to the military machine in general. More so, in fact.

Methinks Mr. Guthrie was a little full of himself. And that Fletcher Christian is just full of it.

Fletch: typically, soldiers don't go out and kill and break things in the abstract or for the sheer hell of it -- at least, that was the case until the current President.

Posted by: Don Rodrigo at June 3, 2011 3:08 PM

You can always tell freedom-haters like Fletcher by the way they talk about the military. They know nothing about it. So, in order to try and educate the long-haired, hippie-type pinkos like Fletcher and his boyfriends, let's get some stuff straight.

U.S. Soldiers are not trained to kill people. They are trained to kill the enemy. Killing people who are not the enemy is against mission orders. Besides, it is a waste of ammo.

Second, Apache helicopters, like any military aircraft, do not break things. They are far too expensive to break things. Bombs and missles break things. They are dropped or launched from aircraft. That might be a bit confusing to a drug-addled longhair weaned on rap-music and Red-Bull. So let me try to make it simple for you -- The Japs tried to use aircraft to kill people. They lost. Badly.

Finally, guns don't kill people. Bullets kill people. Guns simply make bullets go faster. Any military man knows these truths to be self-evident. Next time you deign to write about the military, Fletcher, take better counsel and STFU.

Dismissed.

Notice how peeved Fletcher Christian gets whenever anybody criticizes a Stalinist?

Posted by: pst314 at June 3, 2011 5:40 PM

Woody's "machine" LOVED fascists. The kind who wave red flags, claim they represent "The People", and slaughter opponents and uppity peasants in the tens of millions.

Posted by: Anonymous at June 3, 2011 5:43 PM

Blastineau - And who is it who decides who the enemy is (unless the enemy defines himself, as in 1941 for the Japanese and the USA)? That's right, it's the CinC. Theoretically Congress, IIRC, although that seems to have lapsed lately.

On the subject of enemies declaring themselves: A group of mostly Saudis, using Saudi money to pay for it and under Saudi royal family direction, attacked the USA (arguably an act of war) in 2001. Why, then, was the response of the then President to attack a completely different country?

Incidentally, neither guns nor bullets kill people - except by unlikely accident such as a gun accidentally dropping from a great height. Neither do helicopters, aircraft, bombs, or missiles. People (and occasionally animals, and very often disease or accident, and always old age) kill people. We haven't got to the stage of autonomous AI weapons platforms yet.

Don Rodrigo (although this is already said) - No, soldiers don't (usually) go out and break things and kill people for the hell of it. They break the things and kill the people they are told to break and kill.

How many divisions does Woodie's guitar have?
