Why are rich Republicans so clueless?

The reason politicians are such transparent and craven liars is because they can. The voters keep electing them when they promise the moon and deliver half a slice of cheese, or explain how they will deliver half a slice of cheese in a decade.
Until we revive the classic American practice of using tar and feathers we will have to listen to politicians tell us we are stupid for not understanding how driving business overseas will make the economy better, how inviting our enemies into the country will make us safer, how easing up on criminals will make us more secure.
