"The public wants the Pakistan two-step to end"

I think we will see that ‘whatever’ attitude with Pakistan,

whose yelps about violation of its airspace will soon give way to the reality that American public opinion considers it not an ally, not even a neutral, but a veritable enemy that has done more harm to this country than Cuba, North Korea, or Venezuela ever dreamed of. Should Obama wish to deal toughly with the Pakistanis, he has public support, and of course the option of much closer relations with India, in and outside of Afghanistan. -- Victor Davis Hanson

Your Say

I really hate when the media has to beat its drum to the tune that Pakistan is not living up to its expectations or their lack of dedication to the war on terrorism because of this whole UBL situation. I’m not saying that this problem might put the Americans at some level of disgust for the Pakistani Government and I am not saying that it isn’t justified for the American people to be upset over the death of Bin Laden or at least where his location was at the time of his death but dwelling on the problem isn’t helping in our relations with Pakistan.

The American people in general are pretty naive when it comes to foreign relations and the policies that go hand in hand. Granted there are certain elements of the Pakistani Government that are supporting the Taliban and its cohorts and yes there are a good number that may be sympathetic to their cause but there are many in the higher echelon of government that support the efforts on the war on terrorism but not at the cost of destabilizing their own government.

Many Americans are calling this the Pakistani 2step and they want a full 100% commitment of the Pakistani government to fulfill its obligations and I can assure you that will not happen. The ISI along with other members know where individuals who are wanted by the Coalition Forces in Afghanistan like Mohammed Omar, the head of the Taliban. Do you really think they are just going to hand him over?

The simple fact of the matter is; they give a little there and withhold a little there. That is just the way it is, take it or leave it.
