"Sudden Jihad Syndrome" vs The Drool-Cup Champions of the TSA

rageh-al-murisi-Joan-Lynch-CBS.jpg

If you listen to the passengers and crew who flew on American Airlines Flight 1561 last weekend, there's no doubt about what happened on their harrowing trip:

A Yemeni man shrieking "Allahu akbar!" at the top of his lungs more than 30 times rushed the cockpit door twice intending to take down the plane and kill everyone on board.... So how, despite a massive transportation and homeland security apparatus, did al-Murisi get into this country and get on a plane? He had no keys, no luggage, $47 cash, two curious posted checks totaling $13,000, and a trove of expired and current state IDs from New York and California -- where relatives said he had not notified them that he was coming. He is young, male, brought no family with him, had no job or other discernible income, and hails from the terror-coddling nation of Yemen. Yes, the same Yemen that is Osama bin Laden's ancestral home, harbors al-Qaida operatives who are burning the "torch of jihad," and is deemed a "special interest country" whose citizens warrant increased scrutiny by DHS when they cross the border illegally. -- What Happened on AA Flight 1561 - Michelle Malkin

Your Say

It's very simple, the TSA is not looking for terroritsts, they're predators looking for prey. You look and act like prey, like an easy kill, they'll go for you. You look too tough to handle, like a terrorist, you'll be ignored.

Sounds like an Obama voter to me.

How did they miss this one?????

Simple.

They only search babies, nuns, Swedish lesbians, patriotic Americans, and pre-pubescent Anglo girls.

If you have the proper ID, you can board the plane. He obviously had the proper ID; I don't know which one it was, but one of them, was.

TSA is all about Security Theater, that is, acting like they're making flying safe. In reality, they shy away from the one measure that could enhance security--behavioral profiling--and mistakenly put their faith in technology and random searches. As ever, looking for weapons while ignoring the fact that the person himself can be a weapon. I seriously doubt that al-Murisi would have been permitted to board an El Al flight, whether his papers were in order or not.

In Nairobi's Jomo Kenyata airport, you have to put your bags tghuorh an x-ray just to get into the building. All well and good, except the operator is usually too busy chatting to a friend to look at the screen. There are then about 3 or 4 more check points before you get onto the plane.London Heathrow has the usual officious little hitlers. Everything had to be put in one bag then five seconds later, laptops etc had to be out again. all shouty and nasty. "It's the law" (no, it's just BAA and their effing monopoly). Heathrow has had dick measuring devices since about 2004. perverts.Got home to Ireland one time and checking my shirt pockets before I put it in the washing machine, I found a collection of flint blades. Not that they'd be as effective an improvised weapon as lots of the stuff in the duty free shops - for any little shit who's that way inclined.
