A Tale of Two Newspapers

WSJ: Our print edition has had 17 consecutive quarters of circulation revenue growth

Wall Street Journal publisher Les Hinton tells staffers that ad revenue for the paper’s U.S. print edition was up 7 percent in the first quarter, and circulation revenue was up almost 8 percent. For the digital editions, ad revenue was up 19 percent, and circulation revenue jumped 22 percent.

Washington Post Profit Declines 67%

Revenue at the newspaper division, which also includes the Herald of Everett, Washington, was little changed at $155 million. The unit had an operating loss of $12.8 million, compared with $13.8 million a year earlier.

Bailouts? No, the WaPo employees simply will become Federal employees, starting at GS-10 minimum for the first six months, then rising to appropriate levels according to tested sycophantic vibes.
