Some time back the PBS Show Nova had a documentary on the possible discovery of missing link humans in the hills of remote Turkey. It seems this family had many members that walked on all fours rather than upright like modern humans. About 3 minutes into the show it became quite clear that the possibility that this family is the Muslim equivalent of hillbillies living in isolation, reproducing without contact with the outside world, just might be less earth-shaking than supposed. Of course, there were an additional 45 minutes of genetic and anthropological experts ignoring the sights in front of them and streeeeeeeeeeeetching to suppose there is a tiny possibility the phenomenon was something besides incest gone wild.

The family walked like is found in very young children and mentally retarded adults and not like any primate ever observed. But, it is vital to maintain that incest and backward culture are only one flavor in the buffet of humanity, not the natural consequences of degeneracy.

There has been much literature on the related practice of certain segments of Arab populations and cultures ("Palestine" and Saudi Arabia) where sexual molestation of young boys and girls by "uncles' appears to be rampant. I remember a young Palestinian woman relating to me and friends her own encounters with some of these "uncles," where she encountered bad behavior just short of sexual activity.

Mark Steyn once described Gaza as a depraved society, and he wasn't even touching on incest and pedophilia. If there is a Hell, all of Gaza is going there.

Also, the ancient practice of older men "keeping" young boys is still practiced in Central Asia. This predates Islam, but it is to the eternal shame of this religion that it tolerates and sometimes encourages continuation of these ancient depravities.

This is not so much a "Muslim" phenomenon, as much as non-Israeli middle east (Arab, Iran and the 'stans. It's not very evident in Bosnia, for instance, or Indonesia.

The motivation is not religious, it's economic. By "keeping it in the family" the estates are not broken up. When grandson from daughter#1 is also nephew on one side and nephew on other, the estate doesn't break up into 8ths, but rather quarters, or thirds. When you look at the family tree, it doesn't have the pyramid shape of the rest of the world, but a column.

BTW, IIRC, incest is forbidden on the mother's side, but first cousins on the father's side are fair game (or vice versa).

Does this make a difference if we nuke them?

Bud - The quran (Satan's handbook) specifies that sisters of both the father and mother are forbidden. I do not recall any such stipulations against their offspring on either side of the family. If you'd care to look, try reading Sura 4. It is possible that a later sura (chronologically) supersedes what is stated there,through abrogation. Allah is the Arabic word for the one true God. Muhammed is a false prophet (the great deceiver, Satan). The eternity he promises his followers will be spent in Hell.
