Racerism

Racersists are trying to silence all debate about President Obama’s policies.

Their goal is to shut you up. That's why Racerism is the worst kind of political conspiracy theory. Because one of the great things about America is freedom of speech, even if it is misguided. Ultimately the purpose of Racerism is to take away that freedom. -- YID With LID: The Conspiracy Theory That's WORSE Than Birthers or Truthers --"Racist-ers"

Food didn't get cheaper. The packages just got smaller.

Some grocery prices hold - because packages shrink

A carton of Tropicana orange juice squeezed down from 64 ounces, a full half-gallon, to 59 ounces. A “pint” of Haagen-Dazs ice cream isn’t a pint anymore, but 14 ounces – 12.5 percent less. A large box of Kleenex dropped from 280 tissues to 260. A pound of coffee, 16 ounces, dropped 25 percent to 12 ounces, and some brands have started to slim that further, down to 11-ounce bags.

Morgan's "awful, odious, pompous-ass-filled week"

Yesterday’s villain is today’s hero. We worship the pompous ass who can’t be counted on for anything because he thinks all this stuff is beneath him. The golf-playing trust fund baby jackass.

It implies something toxic about us that all these examples are crammed into one awful, odious, pompous-ass-filled week. Implies but doesn’t prove — it might all be a coincidence. But if it is, we should make the most of it. We have met the enemy and he is us; our tolerance for pompous asses who regard themselves as being above things…who insist that the rest of us also regard them as being above things…is our undoing. We are far too deferential to these pompous asses. -- House of Eratosthenes

And the O's Biggest Achivement Lately Is...

Obama's greatest victory of the entire past year -- his crowning achievement for the past twelve months in the most powerful office in all the world -- is his celebrated triumph in successfully producing a common form of secondary identification.

Years from now, looking back at the "good times," he'll turn to a former adviser and say, "Remember -- remember when I produced the shit out of that birth certificate? Consider Laurence Tribe's actions in this connection.

Just before the election, Tribe claimed that Obama was the most brilliant student he'd ever had at HLS. Really? Where was the contemporaneous evidence? If Tribe thought that at the time, he doubtless could've made one phone call, reiterated that assessment, and gotten Obama a prestigious Federal clerkship. We want the 9-5 people. They're not the ones killing the job sector. We are.

We're the ones who keep coming up with "free alternatives" to the stuff that people should pay for. We're the productive ones that let the IT companies reduce their staff without taking productivity hits. If more of us were like them, there'd be more jobs to go around..... So let's kill the "geek culture." Let's force the women in. Let's make it so that we want to leave at the end of an 8-hour day. Liberals hear a fantasy about a political opponent, which as unlikely as it may be, would make them feel good about it if it were true.

Tom Friedman: Pundit Without a Brain

"Amazon.com Is Doomed!"
Friedman's claim that an ordinary citizen can replicate Amazon in his living room was laughably wrong, but there is a delicious irony in the fact that there is indeed one industry with respect to which Friedman's dire prediction came true: Friedman's own industry, journalism. It turns out that amateurs, many of whom have far more expertise with respect to business, politics, the arts--you name it--than Tom Friedman and other pundits with newspaper columns can, almost for free, turn out exactly the same product that Friedman does. Only better.

The reparations will continue until that half of the populace that sucks at the trough is dead or too fat to waddle to the polls.

The electorate is not as it was when it finally sickened of Jimmy Carter in August 1980. Far more are on public assistance, unemployment, social security, food stamps, etc., or work for thousands of new state and federal bureaus.
There are millions more illegal aliens that have become citizens since the late 1970s. And the voting rolls have expanded exponentially among "nontraditional" voters. Thus the political calculus about which pundits and talking-heads debate is not always what half the electorate worries about. The national debt, the annual deficit, the problems with Obamacare, the tax code -- all that matters very little. The key question for millions of voters in 2012 will be simply who ensures that my check arrives unchanged or augmented, and who either stops or reduces it.-- Works and Days » Patient Obama

America's Dangerous Rush to Shrink Its Military Power

The strange, suicidal conviction now fashionable among the elite is that the customary vast reserves of power with which America
maneuvers in the international system and, in extremis, wields in its defense, have become irrelevant to security and detrimental to the economy. All across the country, children are growing up who, in the fire next time, may pay for this prejudice with their lives. "All military orders coming from the Executive / CIC are illegitimate and illegal"

The Libyan action and the Obama regime's insertion of U.S. assets into that theater is merely a shaping action - a positioning of pieces on a chessboard in anticipation of a checkmate.
The Libyan action, which they admit has no tactical plan or defined objective of any kind, is merely establishing the precedent of the Executive Branch unilaterally taking the United States to war with NO legal, constitutional or Congressional involvement - all in the name of "human rights". The real target in all of this is Israel. The Obama regime has passively watched, and even supported and fomented behind the scenes, the destabilization of the muslim world. Through this, they are enabling and encouraging a muslim attack against Israel. If Israel defends itself, the Obama regime will then use this as an excuse to move U.S. assets AGAINST ISRAEL ITSELF. Cut the deficit by $1 Quadrillion

Here is Don Surber's plan to balance the budget by cutting the deficit by $1 quadrillion over the next 1,000 years. The highlights include:

* Investing $50 billion in high-speed rail so we can force people to give up their automobiles.

* Reducing gasoline taxes by $10 billion a year because everybody is taking the (expletive) high-speed rail.

* Imposing $770 billion in new taxes over 10 years ($77 billion a year) to pay for a $540 billion health program nobody understands over 6 years ($90 billion year) before realizing that we are losing $13 billion a year on this program.

* Another $100 billion investment in education so that the United States can remain ahead of Costa Rica.

* Investing another $15 billion a year to feed kids more free food so we can fight the childhood obesity caused by giving away free breakfasts, free lunches and food stamps that can be used to buy potato chips.

* Spending $10 billion a year to keep down rising college costs.

"Science is the sum total of a great multitude of mysteries." Freeman Dyson on How We Know

The public has a distorted view of science, because children are taught in school that science is a collection of firmly established truths.
In fact, science is not a collection of truths. It is a continuing exploration of mysteries. Wherever we go exploring in the world around us, we find mysteries. Our planet is covered by continents and oceans whose origin we cannot explain. Our atmosphere is constantly stirred by poorly understood disturbances that we call weather and climate. The visible matter in the universe is outweighed by a much larger quantity of dark invisible matter that we do not understand at all. The origin of life is a total mystery, and so is the existence of human consciousness. We have no clear idea how the electrical discharges occurring in nerve cells in our brains are connected with our feelings and desires and actions. -- How We Know by Freeman Dyson | The New York Review of Books

James: If you didn't get a rose, get out.

James: Look at how she's walking. She's zany. You don't know anything about zany girls.

James: Look at how many girls he has left, is this going to be on until July?

James: Awesome they're all breaking down.

James: Wait the Kardashian's have another show now? That's how I know the Mayan Calendar is real. End of fucking days. I bet there's a carving, a glyph of Kim and her fucking sister on the Mayan calendar. But not the giant one, because they would have thought she was a monster.

"One Obscure Man"

Terry Jones's action has been the single most bracing and courageous act of rebellion against the suffocating, mindless liberalism
that infects nearly every American mind. In one dramatic gesture Jones proves that Islam is not a "religion of peace." In one clarifying act he has demonstrated the utter futility of our Islamic nation-building folly. He has shown how shaky is the house of cards built by liberals--so shaky that one obscure man can make the whole pile of lies tremble. One obscure man can make the entire U.S. command structure get down on their knees to Muslims to beg forgiveness. One obscure man can so alarm the President of the USA that he feels the need to denounce him publicly. It's an enlightening sight to see. -- Dean Ericson @ VFR

High Flight

High Flight by DwightFrye

From Cobb who writes,
"I'm thinking about old TV & local stations on Los Angeles, KTTV (11), KTLA (5), KCOP (13) and KHJ (9). And of course KCET(28) and Channel 52. High Flight. I can't remember which station played this one before signing off, but when I was a kid, it was the most inspirational thing I can always remember.

It's true. I remember it too.

Four Arms: Robin Starfish of the beautiful Motel Zero has survived heart surgery and tells the tale

About the fourth day something slowly dawned on me. It seemed impossible, but I examined myself and found it to be true. I do not have four arms.
From the moment I woke up after surgery, I possessed four arms. Just like everyone else. The two I am used to, and two more directly behind and underneath the others. It was those arms that had been "holding me up" for 4 days. They were there like it was the most natural thing in the world, and it never occurred to me that maybe, just maybe, they were imaginary. They weren't like "angel wings" and they were not an external force. They were my own arms but they were pretty much autonomic, doing their thing without any conscious effort from me. They wrapped my back and chest, kept me warm, protected me from bumps, and were ever present. Sometimes they were filled with a powerful pulsing golden light that I would catch out of the corner of my eye, but mostly they were just there, albeit invisible. I miss them. -- Motel Zero: Organ Music

Both sides in Libya have obviously been watching Geraldo for years

In other Libya news, Geraldo Rivera nearly got shot yesterday:

Geraldo isn’t really confident in the rebels. He said he was “as worried about getting shot in the back by the good guys as I was getting shot in the front by the Gaddafi forces,” and warned: “I swear to god, if you give these people weapons more powerful than they have right now, they will be a grave danger to themselves and others.” -- Your Daily Libyan Rebels Update : The Other McCain

Moral Communism

If we presume for argument’s sake that they’re really after the economy, and can’t attack it directly because Communism is discredited,
it is hard to think of a better indirect approach than via moralism. If they try to communise the economy directly, there is an enormous body of “right wing” economic theory that can knock down their plans. So instead, they go for a two stage process. First of all, they persuade people that some Damned Thing is immoral. Then they show that the free market allows or encourages that immoral thing. Then they can say, “well, we wish we didn’t have to do this, but I’m afraid we’re going to have to intervene in that part of the economy, to stop the Damned Thing, sorry”. This leaves the free marketeer floundering around having to try to justify the continuance of the Damned Thing in the name of some nebulous “liberty”. And then they say, “so your selfish desire for “liberty” means this Damned Thing must go on?” and you lose the argument in public, because most of the audience have been persuaded that there is a moral crisis that must be addressed, and you are a heartless asshole who just doesn’t care. -- – Counting Cats in Zanzibar

The Limits of Assholism

Regarding the Get-Out-Of-Being-Condemned card played by pro-Islamics: "You can say, “gee, I wish there were fewer assholes.” And you can even say, “I wish the assholes would be less assholistic.” In private life (rather than civic life), you can discourage assholism. But what you can’t say is, “assholism is a justification for homicide.” -- Yeah: Killing U.N. Workers

Christ's Face Seen in 2,000 Year Old Pop Tart

jesuspoptart.jpg

The image is eerily familiar: a bearded young man with flowing curly hair.
After lying for nearly 2,000 years hidden in a cave in the Holy Land, the fine detail is difficult to determine. But in a certain light it is not difficult to interpret the marks around the figure’s brow as a crown of thorns. The tiny booklet, a little smaller than a modern credit card, is sealed on all sides and has a three-dimensional representation of a human head on both the front and the back. One appears to have a beard and the other is without. Even the maker’s fingerprint can be seen in the lead impression. Beneath both figures is a line of as-yet undeciphered text in an ancient Hebrew script. -- Hidden in a cave: First ever portrait of Jesus found in 1 of 70 ancient books? | Mail Online

AD Comment of March: "The GOP is not much weaker than many of its voters"

Reader Scott M comments on Side-Lines: "You are one election away from becoming a hopeless serf, as are your children and their children." with these insights:
Liberals want to take over everything, conservatives want to be left alone. That is the recipe for how we gave away our country. Conservatives would rather change schools, change neighborhoods, change careers than be around liberals. Every time some conservative whispers to someone that he is a teacher or union member so don't think all teachers, union members, or whatever are all bad you should know that the GOP is not much weaker than many of its voters.

The Left took over by recognizing their oppponent (us). The Left saw that we don't want a confrontation and we want people to admire our rule-following habits. All they have to do to take over your schoolss, neighborhoods, or career is move in and be rude and persistent. We will leave and they will win.

Never miss an opportunity, no matter how badly outnumbered you are or how uncomfortable you will make people, to loudly and rudely, and comprehensively defeat a liberals wise-ass comment. You have to make every commie-lib sorry for every commie-lib comment they make, wherever they make it. But conservatives would rather prove to other conservatives how logical and beneficial our ideology is rather than create a situation or be seen as anything less than Mayberry nice.

Liberals are playing by prison rules and conservatives are playing by Mayberry rules. They never have to worry about getting a shank in the kidney, we expect they will change their mind if we tell them facts. Know your opponent and show no mercy, we are the majority.

So is the Japanese Tsurezuregusa — 700 years old and taught in every elementary school in Japan. Their foreign relations are conducted according to Sun Tzu and the 36 Stratagems. The Pilcrow, part 3

apilcrow-gazette.jpg

pilcrow_normal.jpg

Taking pride of place at the head of every new paragraph, the pilcrow had carved out a literal niche for itself at the heart of late medieval writing. Boldly inked by the rubricator, pilcrows grew ever more elaborate and time-consuming to add. Unfortunately the deadline is not a modern invention; occasionally, time would run out before the rubricator could complete his work and the white space carefully reserved for the pilcrow went undecorated. With the advent of the printing press, the volume of printed documents to be rubricated grew exponentially and it became increasingly difficult to attend to them all. The pilcrow became a ghost, and the indented paragraph was born in its stead. -- From the splendid new page, Shady Characters .

McCain, Lieberman, and Graham: "We were for Qadhafi before we were for bombing his ass to a wet spot on the sand"

CODEL McCain opened its August 14 meeting with National Security Advisor Muatassim al-Qadhafi
by noting the drastic change that the relationship had undergone over the last five years. "We never would have guessed ten years ago that we would be sitting in Tripoli, being welcomed by a son of Muammar al-Qadhafi," remarked Senator Lieberman. He stated that the situation demonstrated that change is possible and expressed appreciation that Libya had kept its promises to give up its WMD program and renounce terrorism. Lieberman called Libya an important ally in the war on terrorism, noting that common enemies sometimes make better friends. -- Wikileaks

It's A Small World After All

According to the State Department, Colonel Qaddafi’s 27-year-old son, Khamis, is also a “reformer.”
Or at least he was a few weeks ago, when U.S. officials welcomed him here for a month-long visit, including meetings at NASA and the Air Force Academy, and front-row seats for a lecture by Deepak Chopra entitled “The Soul of Leadership.” Ten minutes of which would have me buckling up the Semtex belt and yelling “Allahu Akbar!” but each to his own. It would have been embarrassing had Khamis Qaddafi still been getting the red carpet treatment in the U.S. while his dad was getting the red carpet-bombing treatment over in Tripoli. But fortunately a scheduled trip to West Point on February 21st had to be canceled when young Khamis was obliged to cut short his visit and return to Libya to start shooting large numbers of people in his capacity as the commander of a crack special-forces unit. Maybe he’ll be killed by a pilot who showed him round the Air Force Academy. Small world, isn’t it? -- Obama’s Missionless War - Mark Steyn - National Review Online

Rand Paul Explains It All

“The president’s own words are incredibly important here. The hypocrisy is amazing.
In 2007, the president said, ‘A president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.’ And yet here we have a president cavalierly taking us to war. He seems to have had a lot of time to talk to people. He talked to the Arab League; they had time to get together and vote on it. He talked to the U.N.; they had time to get together and vote on it. But he had utter disregard and contempt for the most important body in the United States that represents the people, the U.S. Congress — utter contempt. He’s gone to NATO, he’s gone to our allies, he’s gone to the U.N., he’s gone to the Arab League, but he has not had one single minute of debate in Congress. To add insult to injury, he chose to go to war while in Brazil, while Congress was not even in session.”– Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky)

If they tell you "the science is settled" remind them that they always tell everyone to "Question Authority"

Today, the appeal to the authority of experts is sometimes excused by the immensity of our specialized knowledge.
And it is sometimes defended by philosophical theories that speak of science and rationality in terms of specializations, experts, and authority. But in my view, the appeal to the authority of experts should be neither excused nor defended. It should, on the contrary, be recognized for what it is – an intellectual fashion – and it should be attacked by a frank acknowledgement of how little we know, and how much that little is due to people who have worked in many fields at the same time. And it should also be attacked by the recognition that the orthodoxy produced by intellectual fashions, specialization, and the appeal to authorities is the death of knowledge, and that the growth of knowledge depends entirely upon disagreement. -- Karl Popper, Author’s Note, 1993, The Myth of the Framework

Do not ask for whom the Government Healthcare tolls. It tolls for thee.

Government-run Health Care: Former NHS director dies after operation is cancelled four times at her own hospital
Margaret Hutchon, a former mayor, had been waiting since last June for a follow-up stomach operation at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. But her appointments to go under the knife were cancelled four times and she barely regained consciousness after finally having surgery. Her devastated husband, Jim, is now demanding answers from Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust - the organisation where his wife had served as a non-executive member of the board of directors. He said: 'I don't really know why she died. I did not get a reason from the hospital. We all want to know for closure. She got weaker and weaker as she waited and operations were put off.'

We feel Mr. Hutchon's grief, but if he doesn't really know why his wife died, he hasn't been paying attention.
