It may be different now, with all the "peaceful" newcomers from Islamic Africa, but years ago when I lived there, Portland was bragging that in Maine, more people die each year in collisions with Moose than at the hands of their fellow human beings.

That alone made me proud to be a Mainah, and I still miss the place. A snow shovel was a small price to pay for the carefree, unlocked teen years my youngest daughters enjoyed.
