This Massive CPB Defunding Brought to You by the Letters F U

Progressives to have their $608 million toy taken away: NPR and PBS -- This Time It's the Fight of Their Lives

CPB has requested $608 million for its next funding cycle, which begins in 2013. So far, the current constellation of Republicans in the House and Senate do not seem inclined to grant that request.....

To compound the problem, when the leadership of PBS, NPR and the CPB trudge up the steps of congress to plead their case, they’ll find it’s not the same group of Republicans that cropped up the last time the party regained control. The band of moderates, who might be more willing to back public media as a necessary expenditure, has dwindled to near extinction.

Your Say

They shouldn't worry too much. Thay have the massive Sesame Street toy etc. empire to support their other endeavors.

And then get Ken Burns to do another documentary series - solid gold right there.

If they can't close those suppurating wounds, they should resign and go home.

I would love to hear the new leadership say, "No, you are not gettting any more money...and by the way, bring me the head of Terry Gross." In know, I know...but hey, I can dream, can't I?

P.S. can somebody tell me the name of the broadcasting school from which all on-air NPR clones must have graduated .....the one that teaches you how to automatically sound like a condescending, smug, blase a-hole with contempt for anyone outside NY or Wash. D.C. It is also the school that requires that any potentially hispanic-sounding word or name be pronounced with maximum "authenticity" replete with overly-rolled R's and phlegmy H sounds.

"...the name of the broadcasting school from which all on-air NPR clones..."

Draw the Microphone, close cover before striking School of Journalism and Window Installation.

Now you know!

I hope you people are happy, now. Did anyone even think this out? Did anyone even think about the anguished cries of newly unemployed children in China who won't be making tote bags now? What about the children?!

Fairness Doctrine FAIL.. I'm laughing out loud!!! Not at my own joke.. at the looks I'm imagining on their faces. Who do we thank? Rush? Fox News? Glenn Beck? or Obama himself for exposing the entire Leftist sham?

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I found it again.
The Michael Kelly piece "All Is Lost". The perfect send up of NPR.

Here's something- apparently, the CPB is funding a monopoly- iBiquity is the sole patent holder on "HD Radio"- and the CPB is telling stations to convert to HD radio..which benefits Ibiquity ....good use of those tax dollars, huh?
