Those hips have spread beyond the ability of any design to conceal, so she might as well wear what she pleases - it will offend the eyes no matter what. This too is a sign of middle age - next thing you know it will be the sweatshirts with the embroidered bunnies, or with an applique of a schoolhouse, an apple and a ruler.

Thing is, M'chelle really isn't all that hideous. Not slim and stylish, no, but a relatively ordinary looking female.
It's the face. Look at the picture. Sour, perpetually insulted, nose hoisted as a defensive measure rather than excessive self-esteem. A perfect picture of Poke Sallet Annie: "A wretched, spiteful, straight-razor-totin' woman."
