No Nuts. No Glory. Just a Doofus in a Bicycle Helmet on a Girl's Bike

A Little Travelin’ Music – Born To Be Wild: Steppenwolf

File under: "Not a teaspoon of testosterone could be extracted"

For Obamas, a bike ride and more golf It's official. With the release of this photograph I join with commenter Rick in missing all our other Presidents including Jimmy Carter and William Howard Taft. At a certain point, thoughtful Americans stop asking "Who is this person?" and start asking, "What is this thing?"

IOTW'S Hat brings the background into focus with: "Whether you hated Bush policy or not, this is what bike riding looks like."

Your Say

I still like the one where he's hanging the curtains best. He wasn't wearing a helmet in that one, but he should have been.

How embarrassing. Our president is a woos.

A lot of people think he's Muslim. Now, a lot of people might think he's gay.
Oh well, better latent than never.

Can we juxtapose this photo with some of Putin's PR shots? You know, the karate/judo/Harley riding (with no helmet as I recall)/tiger petting/harpoon hunting pictures.

Can a more flaccid looking president be possible? This is the "man" all the ladies were swooning over during and after the election?

*gag*

Posted by: Lily Ledbetter at August 27, 2010 5:14 PM

As long as we're juxtaposing, how 'bout Sarah leaning on the Harley?

Posted by: Ed at August 27, 2010 5:23 PM

Just missing a pink streamer and a playing card threaded through the spokes... to make that nice clackety clacking noise, doncha' know.

What father rides ahead of his daughter? I have two, and I always rode behind them to be able to not only watch them, but to protect both their six and twelve. He treats his child like he treats America. You're on your own, kid! Don't expect this limp noodle to protect you.

Gov Dukakis says, "Tanks", Mr. V.

Google "G W Bush bicycle"
iOTW has a couple of good shots.

I've laughed at many presidents in my day, but this . . . !

That is so fine, flash, that I'm rewriting the headline. Thank you.

Notice none of the SS wanted to be in the photo, in re Bush image.

"Infantile, yes. Retarded, no. You went full retard, man. Never go full retard."

I don't know who to attribute this to...but gawd, do we have to go there? Seriously, leaning on the lame "r-word" epithet is so...so freakin' grade school. So boring, so expected (mostly among the "compassionate" liberals). It is the height of vocabulary limitation.

My son has Down syndrome and I can say that he is way cooler than what was displayed by the POTUS. I understand that some folks cannot fathom where my anger comes from, but it is there, can you just let that be reason enough to grab a thesaurus and raise the word-choice bar?

Posted by: Lily Ledbetter at August 28, 2010 7:44 AM

The picture of Bush carrying his bike looks just like my husband, down to the hair cut. He's a manly bike rider....unfortunately I would look like full retard on my bike...I pray there are no photos.

Point taken Lily.

Just posted today above the thread, Lily, Don Colacho--

"The steps of grace startle us like the steps of a passerby in the fog."

Maybe we should give him a break: he's not using training wheels.

Thanks Vanderleun.

George W Bush has done bike riding with Lance Armstrong.

I repeat: Lance Armstrong.

Compared to W, Obama looks like he's auditioning for a video remake of "A Bicycle Built for Two... Or Maybe Just One"...

Vermont Woodchuck,

You probably know that Glenn Beck's Merit Award for "Hope" went to Albert Pujols, baseball player and founder of the Pujols Family Foundation which has its main focus on children and adults with Down Syndrome. His acceptance speech was very humble and, yes, hopeful.

twolaneflash,
I assume you are addressing your post to me. I was watching the livestreaming of the event up to the Merit award for "Faith" and then I had to go, ironically, to a fundraising BBQ for kids with special needs and missed the Pujols award. I am very familiar with Mr. Pujols foundation and was so happy to read your post. Thank you for that.

GWB flew the Convair F-102 Delta Dagger, and anyone who could get that beast off the ground, take it super-sonic, and land it on its wheels does not need to explain himself or his (a) guts or (b) brains to anyone.

Pales next to be being editor of Harvard Law Review and a community organizer, eh?

Posted by: Mikey NTH at August 28, 2010 8:57 PM

Lily - it is 'Never go full Biden'.

Posted by: Mikey NTH at August 28, 2010 9:05 PM

Never go full Biden.....winner phrase.

Posted by: Jewel at August 29, 2010 12:38 AM

I've always wondered if the ride with Lance Armstrong spelled the end for Lance's romance with Cheryl Crow. She had BDS real bad and I think after Lance rode with GWB he probably thought he (The President) was an all right guy. I think old George was a lot tougher than Lance expected anyway.
