What Anne Rice Really Said

"According to what We've heard, Rice's post was heavily edited by her public relations team. The original reportedly went like this:

I quit being a Christian. I'm out. In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-vampire. I refuse to be anti-werewolf. I refuse to be anti-zombie. I refuse to be anti-ghoul. I refuse to be anti-porphyria. I refuse to belong to a religion whose cruciform symbol is used to terrorize creatures of the night. I refuse to belong to a religion that drives stakes through the hearts of beings with whom I consanguinate. I refuse to be anti-undead. In the name of Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen.

Your Say

It is one thing to sit and be thrilled by the creatures with whom she consanguinates...when they're confined to the pages and screens of fiction. It's quite another thing when you are being stalked and hunted and bled dry by night creatures whose consanguinity and Islamic teaching makes them that way in reality. But saddest of all is that she couldn't consanguinate with the only one whose blood can save her.

Much blame can be laid at her feet for the Twilightization of dreamy bullshit once offered by the Sylvia Plath school of non-being...And for giving mortal goth sub-culturalists a gnostic hope that they might aspire to be made cunning and immortal in their parasitism instead of resigning themselves to merely wallowing in the shallow end of the gene pool.

What she really renounced were the last shreds of her credibility.

Who the fuck is anne rice?

She's an author who wrote one half-way decent vampire novel (her vampires were not like the Twilight series vampires) and several dreadful ones as well as several dreadful novels featuring other made-up and/or mythical beings (one of which was a woman with the sex drive of a man).

She's basically been coasting on her reputation from Interview With A Vampire, the half-way decent novel I mentioned, for about thirty years. But despite her reputation there's always been something boring and conventional about Rice. Poppy Z. Brite does much better goth horror stuff and what's more she does it in short stories, not long, wordy tomes that go on forever and give you a hernia when you pick them up.

In recent decades "artists" of various genre have given themselves a greater importance than their actual talents deserve. They seem to think that their worldviews have enough weight that we should be forced to listen to them.

Ann Rice has made a fortune from her own mental illness and the rape fantasies of heavy women. Thank God it is all going to blow soon. Maybe someone will stake the bitch.
