Our President of Perpetual Projection
"He once had a fleeting association with the Ku Klux Klan, what does that mean? I'll tell you what it means. He was a country boy from the hills and hollows from West Virginia. He was trying to get elected," former President Bill Clinton said of Sen. Robert Byrd. -- RealClearPolitics

Your Say
Does 25 years count as fleeting.

He actually said "KLU [sic] Klux Klan."
Imagine if GWB said that. Or Nuke-u-lar.

Perhaps he did have to be a Ku Klux Klan fellow-traveller to get elected. Two points here. First; what does that say about the West Virginia electorate? Second; anyone with any decency would have either moved to another state or given up dreams of elected office. He did neither, which makes him either an actual racist of a particularly nasty sort or an opportunist and/or megalomaniac of an almost equally nasty sort. Or possibly both.

"He once had a fleeting association with a masseuse in a hotel, what does that mean? I'll tell you what it means. He was a horny man from the hills and hollows of Tennessee by way of Washington. He was trying to get ejaculated."
Perhaps an explanation from Slick Willie on the Goracle.
