No Homophobia for Oil!

Homophobia Defender Ousted: Energy Department announces that Jonathan Katz will no longer be assisting in oil spill efforts
Jonathan I. Katz, a professor of astrophysics at Washington University in St. Louis, ''will no longer be involved in the [Energy] Department's efforts'' at addressing the oil spill continuing to spread in the Gulf of Mexico, a Department spokeswoman relayed on Monday night, May 17. The news came after what the spokesperson, Stephanie Mueller, termed ''controversial writings'' – which included a ''defense of homophobia'' – spread out over the web on Monday, writings of which she said the Department was unaware when it sought his assistance.

So you can't be fired for your sexuality but you can be fired for your beliefs.

And being homophobic, if he actually is, makes him a bad astrophysicist, how, exactly?

He might have been astropobic or worse homophysic.
That could be painful.

Continuing to prove that this administration is run out of Mao's Little Red Book.

It is better to be Red, than Expert.

Isn't firing him a hate crime?

Ever wonder why human shit smells worse than, say, bull shit? It doesn't. We are evolved to sense it as more revolting because living around human shit is more dangerous to our health than bull shit is, except in cases like this.

The physicist was only relating the theory that nature indeed incubates an aversion to homosexuality in us lest we violate one of the foremost rules of nature, multiplication. I suppose, like brussel sprouts, this aversion can be overcome. Some people even take to brussel sprouts from the get-go without a gag reflex. They are perfectly nice people too. Usually.

An analysis:

In a totalitarian hierarchy, politically correct faith trumps mere utility every time.

The primary thrust of the reasoning behind the gatekeeper of scientific virtue's prophylactic action against the wayward star plumber is essentially manifest as an auto-immune response premised upon protecting the inner workings of the bureaucratic node of responsibility from possible contamination by any incorrectly sourced emanation that may threaten cohesion within the organization.

The seed of dissent must be eliminated from the bowels of the organization posthaste lest criticism stain the hierarchy itself. However it must be squeezed out with utmost attention to sociopolitical propriety concurrent with the aim of avoiding a wider "stink". Secondarily, the scientist was ejected because the blatant misapplication of his energies in an incorrect direction diminished his ability to serve the goals of the party organ. Which is to say; Procreation.
