Three fundamental axioms of leftist thought

The triumvarate of contradictions that claims to be based on "scientific" psychology includes the hyping of
(1) self-esteem (increasing your self-worth without having to achieve anything); (2) hope (achieving your goals without any real effort) and (3) victimhood (it's not your fault that you haven't achieved anything or made any effort). -- Dr. Sanity: ENCOURAGING A CULTURE OF NARCISSISM, Or, The Emperors' New Egos

Your Say

My God, this is the stuff. How I wish I'd written it - but I could have. My own gradual - and tardy - awakening to politics became inevitable when I recognized in my 40s that the endless parade of victims who assailed my life had never had it as hard as I did. At some point I heard the incessant echo of Vito Corleone snapping "You can act like a man!"

My life has produced a litany of disasters that began before I was born. I've been reduced to anger, frustration, moaning and helplessness by this onslaught and never once thought it was up to somebody else to fix it - and of course I was the wrong color and gender to be eligible anyway. Men (women too) weep, and give up, and rail against fate. Children stay there eternally.

Dalrymple's essay is an exquisite flensing of 'most everything that is toxic in modern America; Dr. Sanity, as usual adds considerable value (and without levying a tax.)
