Watermelon for Dessert Costs Extra

NBC Cafeteria sign
NBC Cafeteria: Worst Person In The World!
All the sign needs is Bill Clinton, asking for someone to fetch him some coffee. At least the sign is light-colored and not written in "negro dialect"€.

The condescending racism of liberal institutions just never stops. I mean isn't it insult enough that they got the shortest month?

Jalapeno cornbread?

It's beyond insensitive. I mean, who's the genius who came up with Aquafina instead of Colt 45?

This happened at a local college a couple years ago, there were howls of racism, calls for firings and then…it turns out that the cook, the person who came up with the menu, was…wait for it…Black. Oops.

This could be the same situation, at least the possibility exist.

Ummm -

How is this different than Corned Beef and Cabbage on St. Patricks Day (washed down with some Guiness Stout)??

Cobb (thanks Gerard for turning me on to his blog - I highly recommend) mentioned recently about being able to eat fried chicken or watermelon without guilt . . .

And I recall in school during the late 60's that collard greens was "soul food" . ... .

Gagdad Bob is right -- the cook who planned and served this "racist" menu is black.

Quote from today's New York Post:
"A special NBC Black History Month lunch spread -- featuring fried chicken, collard greens and black-eyed peas -- sparked a commissary controversy yesterday, but the African-American chef who planned it doesn't understand the fuss.

"'All I wanted to do was make a meal that everyone would enjoy -- and that I eat myself,' NBC cook Leslie Calhoun told The Post last night."

The complete story, with photograph and video interview with Ms. Calhoun, are in the New York Post, online here:

I think it was Tim that was right. Gagdad Bob's Colt 45 line was just too good not to give credit where due.

Thanks to "sog" for spotting my error -- it was Tim who correctly surmised that the alleged "racist" really wasn't. I lost my bearings as I scrolled down reading the comments and saw Gagdad Bob's name at the top and missed Tim's name following the comment. Next time I'll wait until after I've had my second cup of coffee before I comment! ;-)

Do I have to hear the same thing if someone serves Spanish rice, tacos, empanadas and flan for Hispanic Heritage Month?

Good grief!

What, no chittlins?
RACIST!
