New Device Desirable, Old Device Undesirable

"The new device is an improvement over the old device, making it more attractive for purchase by all Americans," said Thomas Wakefield, a spokesperson for the large conglomerate that manufactures the new device. "The old device is no longer sufficient. Consumers should no longer have any use or longing for the old device."

One should know that new devices are always better than old devices with the exception of the old devices that are better than the new devices. Longing for the old device also diminishes when the new device is available, however, if one longed for the new device but affordability was of question, then the old device is still longed for and therefore could be of use.
