The purpose of the trip
was simply to splash Obama's photo on the front pages of the world's newspapers, to provide video of him basking in the personal adulation of the European crowd, an adulation that remains very real there even while Obama's popularity slides at home. That link is simply amazing in its succinct analysis. Looking at the current leadership team in the USA we are lucky to have two big oceans between us and most of the bad guys. Is it finally dawning on the euroweenies that they are on their own, they have the weak sister American president they've always wanted? They've spent years trash talking us while simultaneously hiding behind us. HOPE they're happy!

That photo goes up there with the one of Lauren Bacall on the piano of the National Press Club, while VP Harry Truman is playing that piano.
(Poor Harry - he knew that Bess would never forgive him.)
