De-Institutionalizing the 2 Party System

Let's face it: there are only two main parties,
but millions of emotionally disturbed people. What are they supposed to do, form their own party? Some of them do, but you have to be both crazy and stupid to think that the Green Party or Reform Party will ever go anywhere. -- One Cʘsmos: About Those Right Wing Fascists

Your Say

The American politcal party system creates the big tent party coalition before going into electoral politics. Unlike a parliamentary system where a coalition of parties is assmebled after election. (The American system comes from the structure of electoral politics that the federal and state constitutions created.)

The thing with the nuts - they are enthusiastic, but they are nuts. You cannot give them a plank in the party platform. You cannot encourage them. And when news travelled slowly or had few gate keepers, the nuts could be kept out of sight and out of hearing.

But the internet gives any group a megaphone, and the gate keepers are standing around wondering where the walls just went. The parties are as hapless now as the French General Staff was in 1940 - they cannot control the flow on the battlefield. The only thing is to terribly police the nuts before they run the party.

The mainstream right has, to an extent, had to police hard over the past 40 years because the media gatekeepers were so harsh to the right. The mainstream left really hasn't had to do that until now. And the nuts are breaking surface in the administration, and in its NGO supporters. The mainstream media would like to defend the administration, but the walls are down.

Van Jones, Death Panels, ACORN. Like John Kerry dealing with the SwiftVets they have no response because it never occured to them that they would ever have to defend these points.

The charge against ACORN is a willingness to support slavery; and the tired response is that the critics are racist?

P.S.: I may use this as a blog post at Cold Fury.

Be my guest. Great comment.

The founders knew, and often commented, that only a small government could be controlled; a large government would control for itself.
Large government wears down conservatives and consumes them when they can gain office in the first place. We occasionally play a winning hand in a losing game. It is the game we must aim to change.

No, you're not nuts. NEVER give your personal inoimratfon to anyone over the phone. I always ask them to send me their info so I can look it over. People actually sputter and say we don't do that, to which I say then you must not be legit. You can never be too careful.References :
