Will Amazon's Kindle Will Replace the Book -Pundits Say "Yes" Oh, really? I say it will until the first time it's lost or stolen with about $500 worth of books on it.

Your Say

No, the Kindle will never replace printed media. Certainly, it might supplement printed media, but never replace it.

How does one peruse a Kindle? How do we flip back to that chapter somewhere near the end of the book to review the graphic on population change in Tulsa? The beauty of printed matter is that you can scan it in a roughly parallel fashion. One does not need to page linearly through an entire book to find something.

Oh, and what about the bookstores? Interstingsly, my technomaniac friend who swears the Kindle will completely do away with printed media spends his entire Saturday at Barnes & Noble sipping coffee and browsing through the bookshelves.

No, I don't think printed matter is going away anytime soon.
