This may be the ultimate Origin-of-Geekdom photo. Nice pick, Gerard.

Lately when I hear songs on the radio from the 70's (and 60's) I start thinking about what was going on in the world when the song was new, and how very different things are today. Granted I was younger then and not as tuned into politics as I am nowadays, but I've never felt so strongly that the people running the country despise me. Look at our young technie, he looks happy, heading right for the dot.com boom he doesn't see coming. Ah, hindsight.

Just for the record, that's not a PC he's working on. It is an IBM 3277 terminal, which is connected to a mainframe somewhere.
The first time I used one, I thought it was very advanced, at least compared to the teletype I had been using. And the teletype was much better than the punched cards I had used before that.

I'm so glad that Ralphie Glenn didn't shoot his eye out.
