Rant0matic: Fliegenden Flammenwerfer? Don’t worry. Be happy.

Aesop of  the Raconteur Report  reminds you to just:     Relax

Don’t worry.

Unlike every invention in human history since rocks and pointed sticks, small hobbyist-level drones will not be weaponized.

No one will ever use the fliegenden flammenwerfer to start brush fires, set oil terminals or LNG facilities on fire, or burn down the houses of opposition leaders at night when they’re sleeping in them, let alone use them at protests either for or against the government.

Never, ever, ever.

And no one will ever make one and use it on, say, homeless mega-encampments.

Or from merchant ships, against Somali pirate motherships.
Or on groups of illegal aliens crossing the border.
Or on gang bangers selling crack on the corner.
Because that would be double-plus ungood.

The “experts” have proclaimed this as unpossible.

Sleep tight, America.

Unfortunately, Aesop doesn’t need to wait for a flamethrowing drone for DYI Flammenwerfer mayhem. There was an incident in 1964, long before the Internet made far-off mass murders a staple of conversation worldwide, in which a nutcase with a spear and a homemade flamethrower went into a Catholic elementary school in Cologne and went full Roman on the teachers and students. “The perpetrator, Walter Seifert, also known as ‘Der Feuerteufel von Volkhoven’ (firedevil of Volkhoven), attacked the people at the school with a home-made flamethrower and a spear, killing eight pupils and two teachers, and wounding twenty-two others. When police arrived at the scene he fled from the school compound and poisoned himself.” The flamethrower “was made from an insecticide sprayer with a wire netting attached to the nozzle, and filled with a mixture of old motor oil and paint thinner.”
