That Jack Ad: The Few Good Men and Chinatown Subtexts

Well, having Jack come out for Hillary is newsmaking enough. But the hidden subtext makes it all the more interesting.

The spot marches through Jack's most famous roles and ends up with Jack as he is today -- a moment of truth much scarier than the Joker that starts the clip off.

But en route it marchs past Jack as the memorable Col. Nathan R. Jessep of "A Few Good Men" saying, ""There is nothing on this earth sexier, believe me, gentlemen, than a woman you have to salute in the morning." Fair enough, but you have to remember that that is only half the quote. The whole quote is so, well, "Clintonesque" it almost beggars belief. It is also not quite safe for work or tender young eyes.

That's why I've hidden it after the jump. I know you don't want to know.

"There is nothing on this earth sexier, believe me, gentlemen, than a woman you have to salute in the morning. Promote 'em all, I say, 'cause this is true: if you haven't gotten a blowjob from a superior officer, well, you're just letting the best in life pass you by. 'Course, my problem is,... I'm a colonel, so I guess I'll just have to keep taking cold showers until one of you gals is elected president....."

Good to know that, should Hillary get elected, some Clinton traditions will continue. And if you don't think that's the case.... you don't know Jack.

UPDATE: This evening I happened to be screening "Chinatown" in which Jack plays Jake Gittes. In the clip for Hillary, Gittes says, "What can I tell you, kid? You're right. When you're right, you're right, and you're right."

What we don't see is the line just before where the distraught husband, having been presented with photographs of his wife making love to another man says, "She's no good."

You know, come to think of it, the Diner Scene from "5 Easy Pieces" makes for a nice description of life under Hillary Care:
