The Penthouses. In the 70s (why do I begin so many of my sentences that way?), I worked at a type shop, Innovative Graphics International (IGI), on E. 45th. A gentleman named Jack Weinstein shut down his own type shop rather than go union, as the union picketed his shop every day. He brought his accounts with him to IGI. He brought us Rolling Stone, Omni, Penthouse Forum and Variations. Let us say that we had unusual grammatical questions. People would holler across the room things like "Is blow job a hyphenated word?" The Forum letters were truly strange. We got some really cheap thrills typesetting and proofreading it.
