I'm at the RightNetwork. I'll be back. Probably tomorrow.

rnbannerto.jpg

To those who don't know, I'm now the Editor in Chief of RightNetwork, a web and video on demand company that just launched on the 8th of September.

As anyone who has done something on this scale knows, bringing a new site online is anything but a casual operation. I've been working at it pretty much non-stop in pretty much 12 hour days for almost three weeks.

The first week of RightNetwork has exceeded all our reasonable expectations and I hope to have some numbers available soon. But the unofficial ones are very promising for a venture this young.

I couldn't haven't done any of it at all without the very able Senior Editor Joy McCann of Little Miss Atilla who has come through in a stunningly professional manner.

There are many people working with RightNetwork and all are working flat out. Still, Joy and I pretty much have to drive the web content part of the site on a daily basis.

For examples of some, but not all, of our work to date see:

Voices @ RightNetwork

and

Flagged

Not only that but Joy and I realized about a week before launch that three days after September 8 was September 11. This brought a whole other large project into the picture at the last moment before launch.

Put it all together and I've not had a lot of down time -- and what down time I've had I've spent lying down.

Posting and writing here at American Digest will continue, but I hope my readers -- each and every one of whom I treasure -- will understand that it might not be at quite the same pace.

Update: This just in from the Senior Editor, Joy: Well, Now. | Little Miss Attila
He’s not kidding; we are both exhausted. They’re working long hours at the home office in Philadelphia, too, but here in L.A. [me] and Seattle [Gerard] we sort of get up, start working, and keep doing it for 12 hours or better.

We’re not handling the video side of things as much as the words and pictures that go around them. I guess Gerard and I create the content that draws people in so they can then enjoy the video, unless it’s the other way around—it could be that the video and TV producers are bringing their viewers in to read the stories that Gerard and I edit and run.

Whichever way it goes, it’s a kick. Or, at times, a kick in the pants.

"Hey, I'm more fried!" "No, you're not. I am!" "Am too." "Are not." "Am t ...."

How long before Rightnetwork gets on the roku box?

Gerard,

You might want to change those 'https' URLs to 'http', as Firefox is giving the nasty "Untrusted Connection" error page. The complaint is this:

rightnetwork.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:
*.heroku.com , heroku.com

It works with or without the "s," for what that's worth.

Posted by: Little Miss Attila / Joy McCann at September 17, 2010 7:11 PM

We understand.

We know you're about three to four 5-Hour Energy drinks away from going totally bonkers on us and sleeping for the next two weeks.

We haven't forgotten you! :-)

Give 'em hell!

Posted by: Russell at September 17, 2010 7:41 PM

Doesn't excuse you from not linking my fabulous stories lately. My readership is really suffering.

Just joshin'. I'm really enjoying Rightnetwork and am looking forward to watching it grow.

I did NOT do that.

Your writing is always worth waiting for. (We're lovin' RightNetwork here.)

I saw the little clips of the Home Depot executive that were posted at HotAir.

I think that was the first time in a long time that some one has told a US president to Grow Up.

Best wishes and good luck with the Network.

Will be rooting for your success - praying for it too.

Just promise that you won't ever stop writing altogether, for so long as you have a breath in your body and access to a keyboard.

Thank you both. "Right Network" is great. Keep up the good work.

Gerard, you and Joy are doing a fantastic job! I am proud to be a writer for the site. Your patience and skills are more appreciated than you probably realize. Keep up the great work!

I understand the burning the midnight oil thing. I'm at work on a Saturday (and Sunday) and will be doing so through at least November, since we're rebuilding our educational resources (History & Literature) site.

2 double espressos a day. WOWZER!

You made the video links at National Review Online!! I love the trailer for RightNetwork with the running elephant too!

William effin' Buckley's brainchild website, Dudes!! I'm so very happy for you and for all of us enjoying the fruits of your long hours. At least you're in a good place for coffee.

The oops. It causes Mrs. Effingby to sigh.

Posted by: Jewel at September 19, 2010 7:23 AM

Had the preview of RightNetwork at the AFP get-together in D.C. the end of August and waited, tapping foot, for the debut. It's wonderful and I'm there a couple times a day and I certainly appreciate all your time, effort, and sleeplessness in its behalf. I've even snagged the gazelephant for Facebook. I love it!

Aha!
No doubt the reason why no new Kaching! offerings for lo, these many weeks.
I forgive you.

Ohhhhhh, so that explains the snarky item I saw in one of the alt-weekly papers, here in Philly, about rightnetwork.

I was wondering if that was you guys. Interesting.

Posted by: Eric Blair at September 19, 2010 7:50 PM

One day, one hopes, Eric those papers will become control-alt-deleted.

Posted by: Jewel at September 20, 2010 12:19 AM

And, that free Metro paper had an article about Right network today as well.

People are noticing.

I empathise, still in the throes of getting our expat conservative blog off the ground in Jakarta. Please have a look and offer advice.

Is it tomorrow, yet?

Posted by: Jewel at September 22, 2010 12:29 AM

Congratulations!! RightNetWork is just what this world needs. Besides American Digest and it's brilliant links, life was becoming unbearably boring. Although I've never heard of boredom actually killing people, I think I might have become the world's first official case. Where does a free-thinking, slightly cynical.. okay, completely cynical American go for politically incorrect humor? The Left has proven to be anything but witty and edgy.. The Left is a dwindling flock of predictable, pseudo-intellectual lemmings.. devoid of originality and creativity, completely devoid of wit and sex appeal. I can't wait to get my daily fix of even more rightwing edge, as if I don't already need a 12-step program for my AD addiction. Thank you! Life seems worth living again.

Posted by: Red Carolina at September 23, 2010 8:41 PM

I have been dealing with the lack of AD by scouring the archives. It's really worth it. Years and years of essays, poems, wit, anger and sorrow. Mrs. Effingby is quite happily ensconced in the Vanderleun Archival Brain Playground.
