Life During Wartime: "We dress like students, we dress like housewives Or in a suit and a tie"

Have We Gone From a Post-War to a Pre-War World?: Only a few years ago, most western observers believed that the age of geopolitical rivalry and great power war was over.

Today, with Russian forces in Ukraine, religious wars exploding across the Middle East, and territorial disputes leading to one crisis after another in the East and South China seas, the outlook is darker. Serious people now ask whether we have moved from a post-war into a pre-war world. Could some incident somewhere in the world spark another global war?.... The Middle East today bears an ominous resemblance to the Balkans of that period. The contemporary Middle East has an unstable blend of ethnicities and religions uneasily coexisting within boundaries arbitrarily marked off by external empires. Ninety-five years after the French and the British first parceled out the lands of the fallen Ottoman caliphate, that arrangement is now coming to an end. Events in Iraq and Syria suggest that the Middle East could be in for carnage and upheaval as great as anything the Balkans saw. The great powers are losing the ability to hold their clients in check; the Middle East today is at least as explosive as the Balkan region was a century ago.

"Life During Wartime"

Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons
Packed up and ready to go
Heard of some grave sites, out by the highway
A place where nobody knows

The sound of gunfire, off in the distance
I'm getting used to it now
Lived in a brownstone, I lived in the ghetto
I've lived all over this town

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco
This ain't no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey
I ain't got time for that now

Transmit the message, to the receiver
Hope for an answer some day
I got three passports, couple of visas
Don't even know my real name

High on a hillside, trucks are loading
Everything's ready to roll, I,
I sleep in the daytime, I work in the night time
I might not ever get home

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco
This ain't no fooling around
This ain't no mud club, or C. B. G. B.
I ain't got time for that now

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco
This ain't no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey
I ain't got time for that now

Heard about Houston? Heard about Detroit?
Heard about Pittsburgh, PA?
You ought to know not to stand by the window
Somebody see you up there

I got some groceries, some peanut butter
To last a couple of days
But I ain't got no speakers
Ain't got no headphones
Ain't got no records to play

Why stay in college? Why go to night school?
Gonna be different this time?
Can't write a letter, can't send a postcard
I can't write nothing at all

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco
This ain't no fooling around
I'd love you hold you, I'd like to kiss you
But I ain't got no time for that now

Trouble in transit, got through the roadblock
We blended in with the crowd
We got computers, we're tapping phone lines
I know that ain't allowed

We dress like students, we dress like housewives
Or in a suit and a tie
I changed my hairstyle so many times now
Don't know what I look like

You make me shiver, I feel so tender
We make a pretty good team
Don't get exhausted, I'll do some driving
You ought to get you some sleep

Burned all my notebooks, what good are notebooks?
They won't help me survive
My chest is aching, and it burns like a furnace
The burning keeps me alive

If Israel evacuated ALL of Gaza of 'palestinians' then there would not be rockets being fired from Gaza.

Chances are, once again, Israel will only bend the threat curve, and pull back. We know this plan doesn't work because it's been done over and over. That plan only buys a few weeks, months, or years of uneasy random attacks.

We know some things with certainty:

So-called Palestinians speak and act as if they will never abide the state of Israel.

So-called Palestinians are willing to target civilian Israelis and hide among civilians. This makes so-called Palestinians legitimate targets of war.

The Leftists Establishment around the world, as well as in Israel, already consider Israel a genocidal war-criminal outlaw state.

Israel should kill and destroy until it achieves the end of her enemies. It should capture any land used to attack Israel. It should never return any of that land.

Israel should stop calling Jihad an existential threat and then reacting like it's the new normal. If it's an existential threat then destroy that threat or push it beyond the range of your enemies' weapons.

Look, I have children of my own and naturally I am concerned about their future, but it's high time for a global conflict if merely to clearly establish the difference between right and wrong. We are too far off course.

If one definition of stress is "Suppressing the urge to choke the life out of an Asshole who seriously deserves it", then life in this 21st Century dystopian nightmare is exposing me to stress.
And when the phrase "Some people are only alive because it's illegal to kill them" covers just about everyone being fawned on by the talking heads, then I say "To hell with it, sign me up for the dungeon cleanup crew".
