Obymandias by CallmeLennie

asnobobama1.jpg
Ode to a man whose uppance hath come

I met a pundit from a Beltway land who said,
Two cracked an polished screens of glass
Lie in a rose garden. Near them, in an oval office
Half dazed, a shattered redeemer sits whose lies
And upturned nose and sneer of cold disdain
Tell that this Messiah ill his nation's spirit read
Which yet survive, stampt in life giving things.
The hands that cling to her, and the sons who bled
And on the screen these words inscribed,
"My name is Obamandius, Giver of Change
Look upon my -Bots ye righties and despair."
Nothing besides remains, round the wreck
Of that colossal ego, boundless and malign,
The vain and empty dream did slip away.

"The vain and empty dream did slip away."
True that!

I would add-
"And don't let the door hit ya,
Where the good lord split'cha."

Holy Shatner, Gerald I click over here just to see if maybe one person had responded to my post with a "Atta Lennie" comment and i come to see that it's been POSTED! That is one hell of a pleasant surprise!

On the other hand, I knew in my heart that it was good and that it SHOULD be posted. Just never thought it would

A modern poem, for a modern age.

High Regard

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of truth
And danced the skies on taxpayer-funded wings;
Leftward I've veered, and promised a hundred things
You have never heard again - because you are not me
High on self-regard. Hov'ring there
I've chased the spotlight of fame along, and flung
AF One across the globe in search of a clue.
Up, up the long delirious, white styrofoam columns,
I've topped the heights of pandering by TOTUS
Where never Elephant, or even Donkey dared go -
And, while with silent vacant arrogance I've trodden upon
The sanctity of my office,
Put down my hand and touched myself.

Morning, GeraRd as we wait for Obamandius to take the conservoweb by storm, I can tell you I have exactly one more rabbit in my hat called "BHO adresses the nation after Pearl Harbor." which I think skewers the Won just as adroitly as "Obamandius" Can I send it to you? Here's how it starts out

"Please be seated. First off, let me thank the Bureau of Indian Affairs for an outstanding conference on applying my Executive Order 8802 to the fair employment concerns of our Navajo and Apache American citizens. I hear that Jim Thorpe is here so I wanted to give a shoutout to that major league Hall of Famer. Good to see you.

My understanding is that you had an extremely productive conference. I want to give you my solemn guarantee that my administration will strictly enforce fairness standards in the requisitioning of Navajo blankets for the US Army. Now I have to say that, beyond that, I intend to make some broader remarks about the challenges that lay ahead for Navajo and Pima American rug weavers but as some of you may know -- nine days ago, on December 7, 1941, a date which will live in my own personal recollection as one of my most stressing since I become the first African American to be elected President of this country ... a man caused disaster took place at our Army base at Pearl Harbor, on the island of Guam

Send it on.

Allrighty then, I just sent the "other rabbit" to you about five minutes ago. Thank you so much, Gerard

The climactic moment in the movie "Bridge Over The River Kwai" comes when Alec Guiness' character finds himself standing in the river looking up at the bridge he has caused to be built for his Japanese captors.

He says, and I paraphrase:

"What have I done?"

I think that Mrs. Clinton has already had that moment.

I wish there was a way to start a pool on when a sitting Dem congressman or senator will have one from the well of their respective chambers.

We are in a lot of trouble.

tmjUtah, you're waiting for the impossible. That entire gang of filberts has loofahs for brain stems. They're lucky not to choke on their own drool.

I like the crashed icon. It reminds me of the downed alien spaceship in the movie "Independence Day." Maybe someone can touch it up with flames and smoke. And maybe someone will drag off that sorry-assed alien.

Hey, I was looking for that old poem on my hard drive to post here again, and son of a gun... you already posted it! In all modesty, I must admit that I think the closing lines represent a new pinnacle in political satire. Or perhaps nadir.

You really, really, REALLY have a soft spot for my parody, Gerard. We can only hope that it serves as an prophecy for November 7, 2012 as well.

Kosymandias
Percy Bush Shelley

I met a fellow traveller from an antique land,
Who said--"one vast and trunkless leg of stone
Stands in the desart....Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered Kosage lies, whose grin,
His bug-eyed look, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well pink passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these brainless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Kosymandias, King of Pinks,
Look on my Works, ye Righties, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, Armstrong and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."
