"SETI researchers announced today that they would be requesting an additional $20 billion from the National Science Foundation in FY 2006 to acquire a second hamster. SETI Media Relations Officer Lil Greenmen told reporters 'Adding a backup generator will insure that the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence can continue uninterrupted, 24/7, for the forseeable future--or until the hamster dies.'"

That antennae farm in the pic is the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's Very Large Array, on the plains of San Augustin, New Mexico. Located about 50 miles west of Socorro, the VLA is literally in the middle of nowhere and is a breathtaking sight. Take a virtual tour here:
