The most important point to understand with these verses is that if you insist on being your own diety---not subsuming your will to that of God---He will let you suffer the consequences. In reality, there is only one sin--being your own deity. All other commandments are mere examples of how terribly you can go wrong when you don't let God lead, and put your own desires first.

This is the actual reason the Jews originally believed sexual perversion was a sin. In fact, everything the church believes is a sin is a sin against the First Commandment. "Gotta remind people of that.

The Word of God is reasonable (ie if you put your mind to what he says we ought to do, it makes sense)

There was a guy I know who was observing, along with a friend, observing one of the most ugly, 'loser' types of a guy walking in a loving embrace of a very gorgeous woman. He said (wiht a sigh) to his friend "Life is not Fair" and his friend responded "I'm glad its not fair"

What is 'fair'?

Well ... there is a variety of times where all of us have cut corners, done little things for our own personal benefit/gain or have done things that were not nice at all and yet we got away with it. Had each of us got our 'Just Desserts' right the and there - every time - we wouldn't be where we are today, probably.

For a Loving God who sees all, he withholds his wrath time and time again for a wisdom that is beyond us men. Mercy... to a level and patience that is beyond us men.

The quality of mercy is not strain'd,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;

I would think, in the vein of what I am writing now, the "Wrath of God" is merely a withholding of Gods Mercy upon us.

Gerard -- Wow! This is such a powerful message. It answers so many questions about the state of our nation and our world -- especially now. Up is down, in is out, wrong is right. So many have been given over to their own devices and we glimpse the truly depraved state of natural man without God.

Ecclesiastes 9 AKJ

The Bible specifically says in this passage that sometimes, eventually, God punishes people by giving them what their sinful and corrupt hearts desires.

It's still all about free will.
Humans can choose freely; and either suffer the consequences or reap the rewards of their choice.
