I left a trail of footprints deep in the snow I swore one day I would retrace them But when I turned around I found that the wind had erased them Now I'll never replace themPosted by gerardvanderleun at August 17, 2012 5:54 PM
Sorry Vanderleun, I know tastes differ, but Jesus H. Christ, how can you stand this mindless, wailing, snaveling, pap? Has it ever occurred to you that the west is failing because people enjoy this horrible, whiny, godawful, defeatist trash? It's like reading a novel by that commie POS LeCarre, whine, whine, whine, nothing works, we're all going to die.
Oh well, as I said, tastes differ.
Did you catch the implication at the end of Master & Commander where the Bocherini tune was used as "Action Stations". There is not one pessimistic or miserable note in "Notturna la musica delle strade de Madrid no. 6", unlike that wavering, quavering, havering ass Fogelberg.
Oh well, as I said, tastes differ.
There is poetry and grace and action everywhere in modern music. Even Pitbull recycling "You're the one" beats the crapdoodle out of the defeatist hippie weasel Fogelberg.
Oh well, as I said, tastes differ.
Even so, I googled up the egregious Fogelberg's greatest hits and got concentrated inanity. I lived through that era and remember nothing of this dull dog and I challenge you to hum one of his "tunes".
Yes I know he is dead. I praise his life, his work, his never ending efforts, and even his failures, for despite them he's better than I am, and deserves and shall have my prayers. But he ain't no Mozart, nor even close.

As to the west falling, this and all the summing ditties like it, have very, very little to do with it.
Allowing progs to take control of the local school boards and the colleges for several decades, now that's.....

Posted by: vanderleun at August 17, 2012 10:38 PMI just turned 60. This last week I happened to stop by the old record store uptown. (yes, there is such a place, and they really sell records) On impulse I picked up CD's of a few San Francisco hippie rock albums that I had when I was a kid: Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe and the Fish. Forty years ago, with the help of some LSD those albums seemed so profound. Now it sounds like what it was- a bunch of stoned out kids making cornball trippin' music. Still, there are some sweet cuts on those discs. Listening to them made me smile. No, it ain't Mozart. But at this stage of the game, I'm not too proud to mine a little nostalgia out of my own cultural archives.
