Something Wonderful: Amanda Thatcher reading at Margaret Thatcher's funeral ceremony

"Put on the whole armour of God..."

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

-- Ephesians 6

The Texan who stole the show at Margaret Thatcher's funeral With a poise reminiscent of the elder Thatcher, Amanda Thatcher, Margaret's granddaughter, delivered a reading from Ephesians that has the British media agog. Amanda, who lives with her mother in Texas, chose a rather militant passage that calls on believers to "put on the whole armour of God."

How incredibly appropriate a reading, at the funeral of the Iron Lady of the West.

I think it likely we shall not see her like again.

Mr. Vanderleun, You are the man, for posting this. It made my day. You have my sincere gratitude. May extra blessings be bestowed upon you and yours and your tribulations be few.

Amanda read the scripture, but it was picked out by her grandmother, who specifically requested she read it at her funeral.

Her classmates at her recent graduation voted Amanda "most likely to change the world."

Keep the GOP far, far from her.

Amanda Thatcher / Piper Palin ticket?

Go ye therefore from Bible Belt to the faraway lands of the lost. Speak with the spirit of your Grandmother. And upon your head wear a killer hat.

And stand ye up in your killer hat, in front of the powerful and mighty rulers of the world, and school them in life. Be not afraid, and in a strong voice, inform them that you stand ready to do battle with the powers of darkness that control them. Shirk not your duty to put them on notice that the powers of good will stand as a bulwark, to protect humanity from their schemes. And pay ye not the slightest attention to any insects who may pester you, for the Lord gave them not a spine to stand, to do what you have done, and they are wanting.

The great thing is her utter sincerity.

Thanks, Mr. V. After seeing this clip, I didn't feel so badly about repeatedly quoting this same passage on your site, these past few years. If you hadn't noticed, it's one of my favorites. Being the shield to quench a flaming dart (of the evil one) seemed like the least that I could offer, as thanks for posting it.

Powerful stuff. Words to remember and hold dear. And yeah, it *was* a killer hat.
