Prayer Before Sleep

1:25 AM, on a hill above an ocean, a high wind and rain falling.

We remember the past
and God remembers the future.
Then we forget the past,
God forgets the future,
and the world returns to chaos.

From: The Precision of Pain and the Blurriness of Joy:The Touch of Longing is Everywhere by Yehuda Amichai

"God remembers the future," lovely line.

BTW, I so wanted to leave a comment on the Andrew Sullivan/Judas Iscariot sidebar, but it didn't work. Agreed, the comparison is too lofty for AS. He's more like Ginger Spice, when her head got too big for the Spice Girls. And where is she lately, hmmmm?
