Beyonce, et al., you couldn't sweep up the grounds after these singers.

They have an amazing set of lungs. When they inhale deeply I just tingle all over. And they can sing too.

They might have made it back in the days of radio. Hint: to determine if musicians are good or not, turn off the video and just listen.
Further hint: imagine the musicians at somebody's party and a guest calls "Hey Tommy (or Susie) give us a song" and they do just that, spontaneously with or without accompaniment.

That's the talent, not some producer's heavy hand and tons of equipment to prop them up.

To me, they (and the other trios and aggregations) are just the PBS equivalent of a Boy Band. Faux classical.

When people first learn I sang opera (when I was much younger), they invariably say something like, "Oh, you must like Josh Groban" or "You mean like Celtic Women?" or "What do you think of the Irish Tenors?"

I reply something like, "Well, I like the original Three Tenors: Domingo, Carreras, and Pavarotti. All three wonderful singers, you should listen to them sometime." And I get blank stares back.

I'm glad you like them these ladies, Mr. VDL, but there is much better music and real classical music out there.
