Tyrant's Flight? Or Just a Weekend Getaway?

Video purporting to be the exodus of Qaddafi and his minions from Tripoli to Sabha "about 480 miles due south." [Via Jewish Odysseus] Note: And now shown to be wishful thinking.

There's not that much you can really tell here except for a large lumbering motorhome being pursued across a desert landscape at high speed with a few military looking trucks bringing up the rear. Still, if an evil tyrant had to have a last redoubt and fortress of semi-solitude, Sabha would fit the bill.

Fun Facts About Sabha, Libya

1. Sabha is built on a plain sand area next to a picturesque Lake Gaberoun, surrounded by palm trees with dates, which has made the city increasingly popular with international tourists.

2. Sabha's importance is due to its being the air and road transport hub of the Fezzan, a military base, and the centre of a remarkable agricultural industry in the desert.

3. Sabha is famous for the Fort Elena castle,[2] which is the castle featured on the reverse of the ten dinars banknote of Libya. Fort Elena was previously known as Fortezza Margherita, built during the Italian colonial period. Currently the Italian-built fort is a military institution.

4. Sabha is known as the place where Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi announced "the dawn of the era of the masses"

5. In a 2004 report by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Sabha base was linked with Libya's nuclear weapons programme.

6. Seba Oasis, near Sabha, was the test site of the OTRAG rockets, after launching was no longer possible in Shaba North in Zaire (now Democratic Republic of Congo). In Seba Oasis on March 1, 1981 an OTRAG rocket with a maximum height of 50 km was launched[citation needed].

All of which could be, of course, classic misdirection....

Well, if the global temps are adjusted with a spot of radiation, that place is sufficiently removed to not be a bother to civilized people.

Looks like another bad actor leaving town after a very poor performance that lasted way too long. Does anyone remember or even know that Jimmy Carter had a close relationship with Qaddafi and even sent brother Billy Beer to Tripoli.

What Billy Beer was doing in Tripoli ain't what people were told.
