Slate's Weisberg Hits A Low Previously Thought Impossible

SLATE'S LONG RUNNING EXERCISE IN ELITIST SMARM Bushism of the Day By Jacob Weisberg is part of the ongoing "isn't the President stupid' meme that liberals love to drench themselves in. It has always been a scrape-the-bottom feature and, on occassions too numerous to count, slants and distorts the speech for the sake of a cheap laugh. It also never, ever links to the news item that inspired it. Context, you see, might spoil the joke with the truth.

On Wednesday, Weisberg -- who's made some pocket change off this "concept" -- gave the world this as a Bushism:

"I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein."-- Washington, D.C., May 25, 2004

The man was one of a group of Iraqi men whose hands had indeed been chopped off by Hussein. They had been given new hands by a team of American doctors in America. That's the plain and simple truth of the matter.

That anyone would look to mine this moment for the sake of making it seem other than it was is despicable. But being despicable seems to be what Weisberg and his ilk are all about these days.

If there was ever an example of unalloyed good being done for individual Iraqi citizens, you would think that giving men new hands would be one of them.

But for Weisberg and his ilk, it is merely another chance to steal a march on the good and reinforce evil.

You would think that Weisberg would be ashamed of himself, you would think that Slate would be ashamed. But you would be wrong. The sense of shame has long abandoned these people. All they have is hate. And, in due course, hate shall be their reward.

And Hate leads to suffering. They shall reap what they have sown.

The left are nothing but a bunch of intellectual and political DEGENERATES. after the fall of the "dream" (the soviet union), they lost all sense of direction and decency.

"And Hate leads to suffering. They shall reap what they have sown."

True, which explains why if there is a God, He is going to strike down the American Empire with one swoop of His Mighty Fist.

After all, America's foundation was built by African slaves, forcibly induced to labor in the cotton fields to enrich white Southerners (and Northerners too, although there's no cotton to pick up north so most northern slaves were servants). Much of the wealth generated helped to enrich the 13 colonies, thereby giving them the financial means to begin a rebellion vs. Mother England.

Flash forward to the invasion of the Phillipines. The incineration of two whole Japanese cities by nuclear bombs, killing thousands of innocent civilians. The mining of Guatemala's harbors, considered an act of state-sponsored terrorism by the United Nations General Assembly. The American-sponsored overthrow of Salvador Allende's democratically elected gov't in Chile. I could continue with this list but it will probably just get me banned from posting comments to your site.

Point being, God is not happy with the way America wields its power. Nobody likes a tyrant, especially not God.

(It has been argued that America doesn't have an empire but if this is so, explain the troops stationed in over 80 countries, the 23,000 nuclear warheads aimed at the cities of the world, and the massive arms spending that dwarfs every other nation by billions? Also, I neglected to mention the U.S. carrier fleets in every ocean and the nuclear submarines hiding beneath the Arctic ice)

Because, as we all know, african slaves were the guys on the model-T assembly lines. No, wait...

Oh well then they must have been the guys who built the transcontinental railroad. Oh wait those were non-enslaved Chinese...

Well, they must have been the ones who were working the coal mines, dying of black lung while sending their sons to lose hands picking stone out of moving conveyer belts. Oh, wait...

You, Jeremy are an ignorant dimwit whose understanding of history is limited to mining it for political points. Or would you really have preferred that we defeated Japan with the conventional means available at the time, this being firebombing, shore bombardment, and house-to-house fighting?

Either you don't understand the choices available to America at the time, or you really would have preferred multiplying Japanese casualties. Which makes you either a mental midget or a moral midget. So which is it?

Jeremy neglects to note, or fails to understand, that without all the vast capabilities of the US Armed Forces over the last 100 years, he would be able to either voice or even enter his historical fantasies at this time.

As is typical, Leftists somehow insist that the American experience with slavery was unique. On the contrary, slavery was practiced by nearly every civilization on the planet, so it's difficult to understand why, exactly, America should be singled out for moral condemnation.

Yet, without exception, they always do this, just as they always refrain from mentioning that America and Great Britian were instrumental in ending the slave trade.
