To Be Known from This Day Forward As "Dickmobile 2"

PEER [thrashing the pig and trotting off]. You may know the great by their riding-gear! -- Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen**

Morgan at House of Eratosthenes sums it all up:

It’s Barack Obama’s “Marie Antoinette” moment:
Obama needled one questioner who asked about gas prices, now averaging close to $3.70 a gallon nationwide, and suggested that the gentleman consider getting rid of his gas-guzzling vehicle. “If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know,” Obama said laughingly. “You might want to think about a trade-in.”

What a dick. Just no other way to say it.

And, lest we forget, here is Dickmobile 1 from Steppenwolf's 1971 album, "For Ladies Only:"

Somehow it seems more, well, honest.

[** Hey, what other page brings you lines from Ibsen as trenchant contemporary political commentary, huh?]

I'm sure the questioner will be going for a trade-in, about November next year.

No worries, President Me-Myself-and-I. I personally can no longer afford our gas guzzling family van due to your party's policies and failures and because of your incompetence as leader, you undeserving freeloader.

Ironically, our humble gas guzzling family van had a "Trickle Up Poverty" sticker with your lame Obama symbol in place of the o. So there went MY gas guzzler, you arrogant, useless, affirmative action slug!!!

The gas guzzling minivan I drove three whole miles to take my kids to gymnastics classes we can barely afford now even if we still had transportation, the gas guzzler I drove one mile to the grocery store to buy food we can barely afford even now minus the car payment.

I am especially bitter because I have watched for the last 24 months as the ENTIRE construction industry and the entire building community in which my husband THRIVED in for 15+ years simply VANISHED - disintegrated right out from under hard-working FATHERS and young workers because of you and your party's INTENTIONALLY DESTRUCTIVE policies and feigned ideologies and shameless greed.

I am so sick of not only watching OUR family's dreams disappearing, now on a DAILY BASIS, but also I am sick and tired of my neighbors suffering. Layoffs, small-business owners barely surviving, mom's going to work 50 and 60 hours a week, marriages failing, houses foreclosing.. kids left unsupervised. This is happening NOW, EVERY SINGLE DAY in the middle class, well in the private sector anyway.

God forbid the public sector have to pay some of their own benefits, benefits my family can no longer afford.

This is happening now, every single day TWO FULL YEARS after your historic election, you ungrateful, unAmerican prick.

I am going to dance in the fucking streets when you get evicted in 2012. And when I can afford a new gas guzzler, I will buy the biggest damned bumper sticker I can find that will NEVER let people forget what a big ass mistake you were, you pseudo-intellectual smug cockroach!

It's a pity RC, that we must relearn these lessons over and over again.

Aw, come on, Red Carolina, don't be timid.

Tell us how you REALLY feel!
