Presence of Malice: Against the Cuckservative Portrait of Obama [Updated]

glumobamaportrait2left.jpgContinuing his epic slither into the every deeper swamps of cluelessness Krauthammer is still afraid to let the obvious sewer of Obama swamp his wishing well in The price of powerlessness

"And in part because [Obama's] convinced that in the long run it doesn’t matter. Fluctuations in great power relations are inherently ephemeral. For a man who sees a moral arc in the universe bending inexorably toward justice, calculations of raw realpolitik are 20th-century thinking — primitive, obsolete, the obsession of small minds.
Obama made all this perfectly clear in speeches at the U.N., in Cairo and here at home in his very first year in office. Two terms later, we see the result. Ukraine dismembered. Eastern Europe on edge. Syria a charnel house. Iran subsuming Iraq. Russia and Iran on the march across the entire northern Middle East.
At the heart of this disorder is a simple asymmetry. It is in worldview. The major revisionist powers — China, Russia and Iran — know what they want: power, territory, tribute. And they’re going after it. Barack Obama takes Ecclesiastes’ view that these are vanities, nothing but vanities.
In the kingdom of heaven, no doubt. Here on earth, however — Aleppo to Donetsk, Estonia to the Spratly Islands — it matters greatly."

Sigh. It's getting pretty late for Krauthammer to have a revelation about the truth of this unconnected, landless, nationless, president without a country. Simply put Obama's wanted to destroy this nation from the time he found out his mother was a slut and his "mentor" "Pop" was more than ready to diddle him as a boy. [Forbidden >]And don't even think about how stereotypical it is that Obama's mother's sperm donor would just skip out on the mom and the kid at the first opportunity. [< Forbidden]

[Note: Somehow this essay from 2011 never really goes out of style. I could run it every week and it would just become more true.]

We can survive many traits in presidents, but malice is not among them. In the unfolding saga of the Libyan adventure I note that, even though it is early innings, a popular strain of conservative criticism centers around the always popular idea of 'stupidity in government;' with a variant on the subset of ‘the president is not as smart as he thinks.’ The popular variant this time is: 'deep down, Obama is shallow.' This notion includes various complimentary subsets such as 'he is lazy,' 'he is incompetent,' 'he's hooked on the perks and doesn't care for the work.' All comfortable notions that imply that the critic is, conversely, smarter, more diligent, and more fit to make governmental decisions than the president. The problem here is that the critic is not the president and hence has no power to do anything remotely presidential.

I'm no friend of conspiracy theories. The truthers who imagine that hundreds of people have all kept the federal government's dark roll in 911 hold no attraction to me. Too complex and with a membership that is too substantial to keep such secrets. The birthers who look to finally exposing the odd origins of the president who seems to have sprung from the brow of Zeus? Too irrelevant if true, since it will not alter the election, and, if false, pure fritterware.

At the same time, I acknowledge that there are conspiracies in the world. By extension, the most successful conspiracies would involve a very few people with a lot of access to money and power. Taking one more step, one would have to posit that the perfect conspiracy would not involve even a few people, but only one person with access to money and power.

That person would be a sociopath but if he was the right sociopath in the right place at the right time his native intelligence, high or low, stupid or smart, wouldn't really matter. What would matter would be the level of his maliciousness. It would not matter what his real IQ was but rather his level of cleverness and his innate shrewdness. Indeed, to the clever and shrewd person a critical conversation involving whether he was being "stupid" or "lazy" only works to his advantage since is draws attention away from malice and gives him more time and space to pursue his goals. As Machiavelli knew, and Stalin proved, when the ends secure pure power, the means are irrelevant and history rewritable.

Many pundits love to remind others that when it comes to politics it is best to ignore what politicians say and, instead, to watch what they do. True enough but politicians say so much that ignoring it becomes almost impossible. And so the pundits are inevitably drawn back down into the maelstrom of spin saying, "He said this, but he did this," as if blather resulted in brains splattered on a highway instead of the cruise missile launched from offshore at dawn.

The almost inevitable conclusion to this habit of mind is for dissenting liberal and victorious conservative pundits alike to cite Hanlon's razor ( “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”) when discussing the recent actions of the president. I suspect this is a habit of mind that suits Mr. Obama down to the ground. He would prefer it to other, darker, conclusions.

Hanlon's razor is often called, mistakenly, Heinlein’s Razor in reference to the dean of science fiction writers, Robert Heinlein. Heinlein’s Razor is more to my purpose here since it states, "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity, but don't rule out malice."

Self-identified conservatives, it seems to me, are only too happy to “rule out malice” when it comes to examining the actions of this oddest, most alien, and most unconnected to the American earth of presidents. I believe this is because it is both comfortable and gratifying for conservatives to do so. Conservatives love to think of themselves as being not only reasonable and right, but polite as well. Progressives are only too glad to help them smother in this self-nullifying delusion.

For example American Thinker’s "Obama in Exile" from yesterday holds him up as a buffoon, an incompetent:

“Obama is being chased by his own incompetence, forced to face it, unable to stare it down. Privately he must admit he is over his head and no one -- not in the legislature, in the labor unions, in the deep pockets of George Soros nor the salons of liberal media apologists and sympathetic academics -- can save his doomed presidency.”

To which I would respond, "Well, maybe in your happy world." In describing the president as he does the writer tags all the bases -- incompetent, secretly shamed, sold-out, "Soros!" (the conservatives "Halliburton!"), media (liberal, bien sur), and by all means let's not forget all those metrosexual intellectuals in the academy.

The portrait here is of some hapless, sad-sack of a fellow ready to be decked out in the bulbous red nose, the clown shoes, and the strap-on poo-poo cushion, as he slinks disconsolately off the center stage of History. It's a mindset that presupposes that the portrait of Dorian Gray is actually to be an Emmet Kelly self-portrait in pastels. It's a comforting vision, but it is wrong. Deeply wrong and more deeply dangerous.

This posture first and last underestimates a man who has, by hooks and by crooks and by force of will, put himself in a place where he can now, at will, fire many cruise missiles into a foreign country without so much as a “Mother Jones, may I.” It is a habit of mind that not only underestimates Obama, it misunderestimates him by several orders of magnitude. It is well to remember that calling an American president "the most powerful man in the world" is not just a figure of speech.

Such an intellectual posture is typical of a classic American conservative attempting to come to grips with this strange phenomenon who holds the keys and the go-codes to the armed might of the United States of America. It is an attitude that worships the lie that a person occupying the role of the president of the United States must, he simply must, have the best interests of the nation, as he has come to understand them, at heart. It’s a bright and shiny concept and has a lot of innate attractiveness to the American conservative mindset. But like many contemporary conservative concepts it has little to say to the darker reality we face; a reality in which the chief executive of the nation is hell-bent on a malicious program whose intent is permanent harm to the nation he has perversely sworn to serve and protect. To a man who has no other gods before him the phrase "So help me God" means nothing.

This dark reality that confronts us is prefigured in our Declaration of Independence which alludes to the causes of the first American Revolution when it notes, in passing, “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design.”

To break this down I note that the recent abuses of power and the usurpations of governing traditions must now be seen as a “long train.” Surely in the last two years we have seen many such abuses and usurpations from the appointment of czars and the subsequent stacking of the employee decks at all government departments, the endless acts of stealth reparations, the budgeting and legislation that continually increases indebtedness and hence the bonded servitude of present and future generations of productive citizens, the twisted department of selective justice that is wholly devoted to the protection and enhancement of the rights of the “government-driven classes” at the expense of a color-blind enforcement of the law. All of these, and many others, can be seen to pursue “invariably the same Object;” the wholesale destruction of the United States to such a degree that a few more years of the same will make a recovery exceedingly difficult even as it it opens the country to further attacks from within and without. Taken all in all, it amounts to something that, arising not from an “administration” but from the ego of one man, “evinces a design.”

The recent adventure into Libya, or shall I say ‘above Libya,’ is the first time in living memory we’ve seen the will of one man, even an American president, order and carry out an American military mission without even bothering to ask the American congress if it minds his messing about in a foreign country. In essence, one man in one day set in motion the power of the American military without any of the barest of rituals that normally come before. For conservatives to say that he is unfit to be Commander-in-Chief is to miss the point that he is much more a commander now than he was a week ago.

Rituals are important in government as are precedents. In bypassing the rituals, Obama has set a precedent, one that will be repeated next time under an even flimsier pretext. One of the goals in bombing Libya was not just to use military power against some unpopular dictator, but to test if he could use military power -- on a weekend and while out of town -- at will. Conservatives might ask if the Congress will ignore and the military will obey un-Constitutional orders while missing the fact that they just did.

The wise Caroline Glick hints at this brave new exercise of the divine right of kings and its malicious motivation in "America’s descent into strategic dementia:"

“The first side in the debate is the anti-imperialist camp, represented by President Barack Obama himself. Since taking office, Obama has made clear that he views the US as an imperialist power on the world stage. As a result, the overarching goal of Obama’s foreign policy has been to end US global hegemony.”

Richard Fernandez alludes to other anti-American benefits that accrue to the malefactor of such a malevolent power play in Belmont Club’s "Suez II:"

“President Obama publicly expressed hope for regime change in Libya while accepting that the military mission will fall short of it.... By weirdly going along with the Paris and London only to leave them in the lurch Washington will humiliate its strongest allies in Europe. The damage to NATO and the Western alliance will be considerable, even leaving aside Turkey’s feelings. It will call into question whether America can still be relied on to be the regional hegemon, a question that is being asked all over the world.... The goal of aspiring regional powers is simple: to scatter US alliances in the area, either with a view to Finlandizing them or getting them to switch allegiances. And here is Barack Obama, handing it to them on a silver platter. By letting France and Britain get on the carpet then yanking it out from under them, Barack and Hillary are doing a phenomenally effective job of destroying the faith their predecessors sought to build.”

By instigating a military operation at his whim, Obama has created a situation at home where many conservatives are spending their time either applauding him-- "Bad dictator, must go" -- or bathing in the warm soup that Obama’s over-reached and will be, somehow, undone and hoist by his own petard. With their conservative blinders on they overlook the many months between now and the possible inauguration of some candidate acceptable to them in late January of 2013, some 21 months in the future.

A man with a much more reactionary bent to his thinking, such as myself, would note that 21 months is an extremely long time to have a rogue ego and malicious mind actively guiding and making the day-to-day, life and death, decisions of the nation. Twenty-one months of appointments, foreign policy, executive orders, and the odd military adventure here or there, can add up to a lot of problems unless your goal is the weakening of the United States. In that case, it might just be enough time after all.

Even Obama's most rabid supporters outside of his army of apparatchiks must surely sense that there is something “off” in the psychic structure of the current president. Most attribute it to his “yearning” to make the country ‘worthy’ of it’s place at the head of the nations. I suggest that it is something alarmingly dark and destructive. I suggest it comes from a psyche that, for many, many reasons stretching back to infancy, is so structured that it loathes the country down to its marrow, much as the psyche must loathe itself, and that is working, daily, on dismantling the nation with nothing except pure malicious intent. Why? Because it can.

Do I know this for a certainty? I cannot say, but “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design.”

To me, it just seems so obvious that his overriding goal is the destruction of the US. That ia the simplest, most logical answer.

Thank you. For all that you've stated, and so many other reasons, I do not rail and rant about Obama's duplicities. He has none. He is doing everything he promised. Scarier still? There's a whole rather large group of people who knew exactly.what.he.meant during his campaign.

I don't listen to Rush blathering on about Obama being the least qualified, blah, blah. Obama is a product of a consortium of entities who tell him to go to Rio while bombing Libya, to send back the bust of Churchill, to disrepsect all symbols of American exceptionalism, and to lie like a Mad Mullah. He is fueled by our apoplexy.

I don't think many Conservatives are fooled by him, I only think the Conservative komentariat and those trying to build reputation and business dollars write to their political betters, hoping to be noticed.

Thanks again, for telling it like it really is.

More interesting to me is finding his Achilles' Heel.

I have a tendency to agree completely with your analysis, but am certainly uncomfortable doing so, as a 25 year veteran of the USAF. I do want to believe big O is merely stupid and incompetent.
Being an inveterate Mencius Moldbug fan, I recall this post from 2008:

http://unqualified-reservations.blogspot.com/2008/11/president-obama-with-little-perspective.html

But I see a disturbing trend...as provocations abound in and around Israel, they will be tempted to respond. Then under guise of "R2P", thanks to Ms Power, our military will be asked to establish a NFZ over Gaza.

I'm Canadian so I don't know whether I should comment here. That man scares me. His "Apology Tour" totally unnerved me. Good luck facing him down. We're possibly facing an election up here after today. There's chaos in both our political and physical worlds. I'm waiting to catch my breath. Obama won't.

Posted by: Circe at March 23, 2011 6:29 PM

Circe, if you cannot comment here, that would be a tragic day, indeed.
I wanted to believe a while back that our president was an untested incompetent, but I have to agree with you Vanderleun. There are too many precedents where malicious incompetents have been unleashed upon the world stage, with endless war on good and law.
Thanks for putting all the conspiracists into their proper place as far as importance goes. They are pointless distractions.

Posted by: Jewel at March 23, 2011 6:50 PM

You have tappped into that big lump I've been carrying around all week, a lump of fear that everything you are saying is true. As Circe says, it "unnerves" me. Even when I close the computer and change the channel to some lightweight comedy, I can't shake a sense of doom that keeps me in a lowgrade state of anxiety all the time.

I don't like confusion. I don't like reading that the Chief of Naval Operations has no idea what the mission is or what is expected next. I don't want to hear that. It "unnerves" me. And it really "unnerves" me when it is obvious that the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing, that there was no pre-planning and our service members are put in harm's way, and no one seems to want to be in charge, which to me, means that someone no one wants in charge will fill the vacuum. Scary stuff. Vanderleun's theory is too close to my own nagging feelings for comfort.

To paraphrase Michelle Obama, for the first time in my life I am ashamed of my President and afraid for my country.

Obama's mother was a hard left radical, and one of those peculiar racists who reserved her loathing for those of her own race- hence the deliberate search for two husbands who were anything so long as they were not American, and not white. His mentor was a communist.
And in a man or a nation, religion is not the paint on the house, it is the foundation on which the house is built. Twenty years in the church of an America loathing racist hate monger is the foundation of Obama's spiritual house.
There are those for whom truth is a value, there are others for whom the truth is an inconvenience or a mere expedient. His pre election promise to "fundamentally transform America" was perfect equivocation.
Malice to the Nth power.

But even saying that is bizarre.

JWM,

All that's true about his mother; maybe even more to the point is that little Barry was just a game marker, for her and her parents both. Not bad enough that he grew up bathed in leftist envy and hatred, it had to be apparent that he had no value except as a symbol of Enlightenment for the keepers of a somewhat-black kid. I figure his arrogance is barely a match for his self-loathing. Just because you're a narcissist doesn't mean you can't be a megalomaniac.

And look, you can't just leave Soros and the Bernie'n Bill and them out of this. None of it is separate, all of it fits, and if you don't see a grand design you're delusional. Seen what Soros is up to?

Fresh offa Drudge:

Does anybody seriously think where we are isn't a perfect dream for the New Lefties that glommed onto Barack 30 years ago? Of course he's trying to destroy the country, what else would he be doing?

And so it goes.

What I've been noticing for the past week is that nobody is talking about Libya. In the real world and Facebook... not a peep. I finall asked a couple co-workers today point blank. Both very liberal. And they were both despondent and trying to deny that their president just started another war for not much of a good reason. They tried to justify it- weakly- with the humanitarian argument. But I could see it in their faces. They know- everyone knows- something is off with this president.

We're all conditioned to think the best, be charitable in our remarks. And that's probably a good thing... until you encounter a sociopath.

Nothing, nothing is upsetting as being taken advantage of in this way. And it appears this is what this man is doing.

I've been hoping that what Solzhenitsyn called "the crowbar of events" will have it's way with him. Still even in that scenario there's going to be a lot of collateral damage.

Any speculation as to Obama's achilles heel? I feel that ultimately it's about more than him. He can do the greatest amount of damage right now but there are plenty to take his place.

Obamaman knows exactly what he's doing. Can anyone say Alinsky?

Posted by: Terry Kirkpatrick at March 24, 2011 2:41 AM

Oh, there's a design all right - and malice is not mutually exclusive to incompetence. He is malicious, with all intent to undermine America and implement ihis own twisted version of Western MArxism. But his schemes keep running into unforeseen roadblocks and problems. Doesn't prevent him from doing damage thoug. His essential weakness is he wants to charm his way into power instead of just taking over like any good dictator. Thank God his evil malice is not matched by equal competence.

Posted by: Randell Beck at March 24, 2011 5:42 AM

Great read, but sadly I believe he is the classic government sponsored middle manager that has risen far above his competence. Now, for the first time in his life he is faced with responsibility... like a deer in the headlights he freezes, and then runs willy-nilly all over the place.

Awareness of this incompetence is starting to seep into the mass media complex, and more importantly the American public.

But it may be too late.

My own take on this is here:

Another Canadian, here. Being alarmed and being alert to the possibility he might want to erase the US is important, but if it IS true, what next? Sharing fears is one thing, but does anyone have any idea how to rein him in, or undo the damage he may be planning, or ensure that there is some sort of recognizable America to dig out of the rubble once he's passed? The military reacted without waiting for Congressional approval. What next?

Posted by: A. non Imous at March 24, 2011 7:41 AM

Obama is a very shrewd, and wily person. He bought both assassination and impeachment insurance by choosing Biden as his V.P. At least the insurance is good in the US. Perhaps it won't be so good against relatives of the civilians he is claiming need saving, but he is not doing anything to protect. If I were him I would be very careful going abroad anywhere from now on.

Posted by: St. Thor at March 24, 2011 8:42 AM

Gerard, you have a very good hypothesis. The reason more people are not willing to say it is Godwin’s Law. According to the general application of Godwin’s Law, Hitler is sui generis. The fact that he’s not (see Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot to take three examples) is immaterial. It’s like the accusation of racism; designed to shut down the discussion.

The belief that a President of the US hates the country is so much like a movie script, so far out of people’s imagination, that uttering the thought automatically makes most people who view themselves as grounded in reality dismiss the idea.

But in the back of everyone’s mind is the question. Can the man who moved through the waters of the American political system without leaving any ripples, the beneficiary of affirmative action all his life, the man who voted “present” to avoid controversy, whose finances were always taken care of without much effort on his part, whose contact with people was always with those that hated America; could this man really be lazy, stupid or incompetent and still become President?

I fear that this may be one of your most, if not THE MOST, important and memorable essays. This has been in the back of my mind since the zerO got the nomination, but I have kept it from coming to the forefront because it seems just too unbelievable and dangerous to contemplate. However, the series of jaw-dropping events orchestrated by this administration have piled one upon another such that this cannot be mere coincidence. It must be guided by some grand plan. Our citizens must awaken to what is occurring all around us. I pray that our nation survives until January 2013.

Obama did not spring from the brow of Zeus. And, I am not a birther by choice, I am a reluctant witness to a coup by powerful forces within and without my government.

In 1970, Tim Geithner, his younger sister and mother visited relatives on Lake Decatur in Decatur, IL to escape the heat of Indonesia. Peter Geithner was opposed to his wife and children's visit to the mainland and had warned them not to speak of certain things because, "the plan was all set,"and he didn't want anything going wrong with the plan. Tim and his sister wondered at length what "the plan" entailed and why their father was so insistent that they not speak about certain things.

However, the children had a fascination about a boy named Barry; Audie having a school girl crush on Barry who attended her school and who studied the Koran in Arabic and dressed in Muslim garb, and Tim was fascinated with Barry's many names and pronounced them in my presence. Tim knew that Barry might not be returning to school in Indonesia in the fall, but might be moving to HI at the direction of his mother, and he knew that his own family would soon be moving to Thailand. Tim also wasn't sure about Barry's age, first speculating that Barry was several years older than him, then nearer his sister's age, and then possibly his own age. According to reports, Tim Geithner and Barry Soetoro were both born in August within a few days of one another, if one takes this information as fact.

Mrs. Geithner became very alarmed when she saw and heard her children speaking about Barry in my presene and yelled from within her relative's home for them to stop immediately. She threw the front screen door aside, stomped onto the lawn and began angrily berating them both before forcibly dragging them inside and continuing to shout that they had been forbidden to talk about certain things and had done exactly what she and their father had warned them not to do. She continued her angry scolding tone so loudly that I remember hearing her harrangue long after she had slammed the front door of her relative's home and wondering what could possibly warrant such vitriol and force against her own children.

Then, in the summer of 1971, a boy named Barry from HI visited the home of a drug dealer and his family in Decatur, IL before going north for important meetings with important people.

A school friend of mine who babysat for the couple's two little girls met Barry and he told her that he wasn't born in this country, but wanted to be president someday anyway. He compulsively stated that admission several times, each time apologizing for his ambition. She liked his great smile and his many ideas for future programs, even though she thought his repetitious statements of not having been born here rather strange.

Barry did not have a birth certificate and needed a SS#, but had been promised his first job at an ice cream parlor when he was old enough. My friend's sister had a lot of radical SDS,anti-establishmentarian friends and someone in her network told her that he could get a SS# in CT and they would provide a mailing address.

And now before I go on, I should mention to you that when I objected to Barry's lack of nbc qualifications, my friend mentioned this to her employer and he became angry. At first he thought if I met Barry I would change my mind, but when I refused, stating that Barry could never be president because of his foreign birth, Barry's handler threatened me and my friend relayed this message.

She gave her employer my SS#, which she knew because we applied for our cards on the same day. She did this because it was her opinion that Barry would make a great president and that if and when he ran, she would vote for him.

After,I was threatened, I told one of my parents, but my father reasoned that the chances of Barry running for the presidency were marginal because Barry was a foreigner. As for the drug dealer, he was already known to the DPD and was soon run out of town. Nonetheless, my concerns about Barry's presidental aspirations and the threats of his handler persisted and I told three people in the years immediately following about Barry' statements and his handler's threats.

During the presidential campaign of 2008,I posted this information on the internet at regular intervals hoping to alert the public to questions about his bona fides which had also been raised and investigated by journalists and citizen journalists. Then after confirming with my former friend who met Barry that she did not deny the incident, and having spoken to someone I had told about this incident back in 1971, I contacted the FBI hoping to provide information which would trigger an investigation into potential campaign fraud and fraud against the voting public by this candidate.

Imagine my surprise when I was told that the election settled what the FBI considered a political question and that they "weren't authorizd to investigate such an allegation." Well I can remember my chagrin at having to tell them that i was unacceptable for a foreign-born POTUS to act as CIC with the authority to order American sons nd daughters into battle at his command. Yet, truth is that they probably already know and just don't care because the DOJ won't authorize any aw enforcement arm to do anything to investigate this president's background. Yet, it must be an open secrett those at the top.

Consider that this president's mantra is social justice, and he is perfectly willing to set this country's race relations back decades to reinforce historical wrongs against decease victims by deceased perpetrators yet will do nothig to indict or try crooks on Wall Street, in the banks, mortgage brokerages, bond rating agencies, investment banks, or in the mosques, or streaming across our southern border. Ask yourself why this president is more concerned with crimes pre-dating the Civil War and stretching through the decades after WWII, but is not concerned with crimes against the entire American citizenry as perpetrated by the aforementioned criminal elements in the investment and banking industries?

The financial debacle in Sept. 2008 (month according to Rep. Paul Kanjorski)compromises the security, freedom and opportunity of every American alive now or born in the decades after this man-made catastrophe.

Rumors on the internet are that Barry was selected by Brzenzski at Occidental, and, of course Geithner, Jr. worked for Kissinger & Associates, and then the banking consortium rising to the CFO of the NY Federal Reserve during the Bush administration and just prior to the installment of Obama.

Peter Geithner was head of the Ford Foundation in Asia and employed Barry's putative mother, Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro. Lolo Soetoro worked for Dutch Shell and left Indonesia sometime around the overthrow of Bung Sukarno. He reluctantly returned to Indonesia with SAD as his wife and with young Barry. Peter Geithner also opened the first FF office in Bejing and mentored many of the current leaders of the Chinese governemnt. Geithner, Jr. immersed himself in the Chinese language and culture just after graduation fromDartmouth and befriended several of the future leaders of the Chinese Communist regime now in power.

As I am trying to type this information, my computer is acting up again which is what happens whenever I try to post about these facts. How unfortunate for all of us that cowards are in charge of Washington and our intel agencies. Just imagine if these people had done a better job of vetting and monitoring the putative POTUS than a grandmother from the Heartland.

It is my belief that the current president was selected as a possible leader early on by powerful men linked to banking and the Chinese government. Kissinger served Nixon during the instigation of trade relations with the Chinese Communists, an initiative which has robbed Americans of jobs, weakened our economy, indebted us to the international bankers and the Communists, and sickened and killed Americans through the importation of toxic medicines, products, food and other items.

Obama (not his only name) serves as a multi-national/multi-cultural face to fool the underprivileged, especially the Black community. He also serves to enmesh the Muslim world and its wealth (shariah bnking) with the American economy. He has Communist sympathies, Muslim sympathies, and divides (not unites) Blacks and whites and other races. He champions social justice over rule of law because it achieves the political balkanization of this country and further weakens her before her enemies.

If he is re-elected in 2012, he will inflict further damage, perhaps, irreparable damage on this country. Geithner is a multi-cultural tool of the international banking set and seems more proud of his foreign upbringing than his American roots. These two men have no allegiances greater than their allegiances to the international powerbrokers who faciltated their rise to absolute power.

Seattlites, How to Tell There's a Dem in the White House:

Three shooting wars going on, and the ONLY coverage of ANY of them in the Seattle Times is on page...5! And it is a human-interest piece about a local prof's involvement in the rebel government. Only military information is a 3 X 5 graphic of Libya with some explosion symbols here and there.

Do Dems know how to nurture the flowering of world peace, or what??

Gerard, you've given voice... well, bandwidth at any rate... to thoughts bouncing around in my head for months now.

Divining the reality of the situation is actually pretty simple, I think. Put yourself in the place of someone bent on destroying America and ask what, if anything, one would do differently from that which BHO has done.

I also had a bit of a déjà vu reading this, as you've touched on something I think is even more fundamental in terms of the real dangers that threaten the Republic (e.g., if not BHO, it would be someone else). That is the behavior and actions of conservative-minded individuals, and their utterly misguided propensity to treat left-liberals as fully-functional, morally mature adults. More on that here, if anyone's interested, but I remind folks that what you'll find is intended as a warning to conservatives that they MUST change their ways. The moral adolescents among us are not capable of doing so. BHO simply epitomizes their narcissism and the enormous potential for destruction that embodies.

Your claim of shrewdness is based on the fact that he got elected. Your fallacy of logic is to assume that he was responsible for accomplishing this. In a word:

MEDIA.

Obama no more "accomplished" the Presidency than he did the Harvard Law review, or the Nobel Prize. It was given to him by people who wanted to commit reverse racism.

The Media pulled out all the stops to cover up his deficiencies and malign his enemies. The man spends an inordinate amount of time "partying" and is probably hung over much of the time.

He is not smart, he is "Chance Gardner" or "Mr. Magoo" or "Forest Gump." (Or agent double aught Jethro Bodine, if you remember the Beverly Hillbillies.)

I do not doubt he has malice for this country, and I do not doubt that he is often motivated by it, but I think his primary operative characteristic is incompetence.

St. Thor, He shouldn't rely on that insurance plan of his. Besides, he has an even bigger insurance plan.. the Almighty Race Card. He is conducting himself EXACTLY how we would expect a Black Liberationist Affirmative Action Ivy Leage Communist would. I grew up in the south. I know the attitude of the typical social justice black. We are surrounded by them down here. The NAACP is around every freaking corner. This man and his wife are behaving the very way any elite social justice black leader would run the presidency, give or take a few Jews, as Rev. Wright never lets us forget. Nothing bothers elite social justice blacks. They are ENTITLED. Add in his Alinsky influences, his loony mother and communist mentor, the bitterness he must harbor regarding the tragic figure his slacker father turned out to be.. add it all up, we have one screwed up, muddled up individual, even without the title of POTUS (or laughably, Nobel Peace Prize recipient). But doesn't his true boyish personality shine brightest when he makes his NCAA bracket picks? Or was it in the his "I won!" and "Go get a mop" phase? Who knows. What really jumps out at me is his treatment (or mistreatment) of ALL our traditional allies. He just doesn't value America, he doesn't understand the price of freedom, his political persona is a FRAUD, concocted by Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama and YES Bill Ayers and friends. Rev. Wright was just a tool. But having said all that, Gerard is right.. 21 months is a long time, regardless of his intellect, or lack thereof. He has the mentality of a resentful child who has benn given the most powerful position in the world (at least it was in 2008). Fantastic piece - cuts right through all the bull shit.

I live in the heavily democratic Montgomery County of Maryland. All my neighbors voted for Obama and rejoiced in his election voicing such platitudes as "We get a do-over in the world".

Today is quite different. There is universal disenchantement and a palpable unease with Obama, with his actions and with his plans such as they are known. For some the realization came quickly and the rest generally have come around. There are a few hanging on to their dream but you can see the light fading from their eyes and the resentment at my unspoken "I told you so."

Most interesting is the growing desire within this group for the conservatives to present a successor/savior. It is as if they concede that democratic policies and politicians will be the ruin of us if not stopped and/or reversed.

Barry is, as a great many people now realize, in way over his head as president. That is why, in my opinion, he defers making decisions as long as he can and then, when he does, they tend to appear random. In the Libya case, he was probably buffeted by considerations of dispelling his wimp persona, reacting to the magpie in the State Department, keeping his radical left crazies quite, and thinking that by acting to save the rebels through UN cover, he might curry favor with the moderate left. After two weeks of decision deferral, he randomly selected the Bill Clinton “throw a bunch of Tomahawks at them and call it good”. Assuming malicious motives seems to imply a greater degree of competence than is evident by his actions over the past two years.

It sounds Amazing, and I should like to hear more of it. It would be easy to assume that you are putting us on, but because you are so specific in naming names and times, it makes it seems as though it might be true.

It is my habit to at least look at things which are being alleged, and then weigh for myself the probability of their being true. (especially if bits can be corroborated elsewhere.)

One of my great fears is to get caught up in the notion of "conspiracy" because I have had long experience with people who see a conspiracy behind every bush, and as a general rule I consider the notion that there is ever any sort of conspiracy to be unlikely. Of course I consider the likes of Bill Ayers to be very unlikely, yet there he stands.

I'll check back in to see if you've written anything more.

When the congress proposes a $61 bil. cut in spending, equivalent to a mere 12 days of borrowing by the government, with the deficit already equal to the GDP at something like $14 trillion, and the cuts don't pass, when nobody even wants our debt so the Fed prints fiat money to buy it instead, and even buys enough stocks to run the DOW up to its current high levels, seems to me they all share in a malicious intent to destroy the United States of America.

Posted by: John Hinds at March 24, 2011 4:04 PM

Funny you should write this. Tuesday I wrote that the Libya mission is probably already accomplished:

First, the administration has repeatedly emphasized that American military strikes are authorized by the UN and the Arab League. That only the US Congress can authorize war against Libya seems to be of no concern to the president.

This administration, including Ms. Clinton, has placed American military employment subservient to the United Nations and, most particularly, the Gulf States. Although some US critics have called the Libya intervention a "cowboy" action no different from the (presumed) cowboy actions of G.W. Bush, it's more than obvious that Obama does not see it that way.

Community organizer that he is at heart, this president believes that only the "international community" (of which there is no such thing, but let that pass) can authenticate or authorize military actions by the United States. Since in this case the target is an Arab country, the endorsement of the Persian Gulf states was required. Since the Congress represents neither the "international community" nor the Arab states, then not only is Congress's authorization not needed, it would actually be counter-productive by maintaining the unjust position that America's national self-interest is predominant. This compulsion to subordinate US military operations to the "international community" also explains why the president has vowed to hand operational control of American forces over to a European authority (just who is yet to be determined).

By at least conceptually placing America's interests and the use of its military second or third to the "international community's," Secretary Clinton and President Obama likely believe that their main purpose in this intervention has already been accomplished, no matter the outcome on the ground in Libya.

DiogenesLamp @ 3:48: Yes, it is amazing, but true. Would that other souls had the burden of this information and the power to do something to insure that malice, as weighed by the author of the article above, is not at the heart of what is unfolding on the international stage by the words, acts and power of the pen of this president.

Putting anyone on for personal amusement is the furthest thing from my mind. This is no laughing matter, but a matter of national concern. There is no personal benefit to me attached to the information I have divulged here or anywhere on the internet. No book to promote, no website, no farcebook page, no twidiot account, nothing but what I know and tried to tell authorities as a good citizen.

As for conspiracy theories ala 9/11, a former co-worker of mine had a daughter who was dating a pilot at a flight training school in the northwestern U.S. The pilot became alarmed when Middle Eastern men kept showing up at the flight school and during lessons insisted they only needed to learn how to take off and had no need for instruction on how to land.

My former co-worker, her daughter and her daughter's pilot boyfriend contacted the local FBI office and were rebuffed in their attempt to alert authorities not once, but several times. The last time these good citizens contacted their local FBI office they were threatend with an intensive investigation into their personal activities and backgrounds as thanks for coming forward with information about foreign nationals with possible covert intentions.

Whether this proves government complicity in destroying the Twin Towers and the economic engine on Wall Street on 9/11 is certainly inconclusive, but it does point to an alarming lack of concern on the part of authorities to glaring dangers pointed out by average men and women to statements and actions by people who seemed to want to fly planes without landing them.

Often when discussing loony conspiracy theories, people frequently cite the moon landing as a way to sort out cranks. The moon landing happened when I was young and I did not question that it happened. However, when asked if it is possible that the U.S. would go so far as to fake out the Russians in order to obtain a psychological advantage during the intense Cold War, I have no doubt that my government would do anything necessary to frustrate Russian rocket technology. Notice, I did not say that I believed my government staged a fake lunar landing; I only said that if it were necessary to do so, they would do whatever it took to win the Cold War.

As per this president, I know what I know and have posted this information so that you and others like you, and perhaps those who monitor sites like these, can investigate, or at least question and hold accountable the two individuals who wield all the power to militarily or financially make or break this country before her enemies. If there were no secrets to be kept from the voting public in 2008, why did this president and later his treasury pic not divulge a prior nexus, and why have this president's records been kept from the public?

I hope the answer is not that keeping voters ignorant of whom they were voting for benefited the international bankers, men like George Soros, or his Communist cronies who keep their citizens in sweat shops to build anew the Communist machine complete with the latest military hardware and nuclear missiles, or even neutron bombs.

I've been saying since before the '08 election that it appears to me that Obama believes his life's mission to be the destruction of American power, prosperity, credibility, and influence.

Watching the establishment GOP failing to see what is now before our eyes in the form of an existential threat to the republic, and choosing to give this malevolent megalomaniac the benefit of the doubt, is an endless source of frustration for me.

Posted by: IronDioPriest at March 24, 2011 11:36 PM

I followed a link here from WesternRifleShooters.

Methinks the author is much too much in love with his or her own writing style. I suspect he finds it a lot more stylish than I do. WTF is fritterware? WTF is this: "Too complex and with a membership that is too substantial to keep such secrets."

When will the author learn to write in sentences and not in merely disjointed but seemingly connected phrases but which stand alone? On that day, I might return to read more.

Obama is a disaster, but he is a disaster of the hive mind that is Washington and beyond. (Look! A sentence!) It is impossible to correctly attribute to one man the actions of this government. Did Obama sit in court and render the GM and Chrysler bankruptcy ruling? Did Obama singlehandedly pass Obamacare? Did Obama singlehandedly pass two, and soon three consecutive federal budgets with $1.5 Trillion deficits? Did Obama pass TARP?

You state the problem far too narrowly. Doing so misleads folks about what the real problems are. One of those real problems is the "primary before the primary," where big money pre-selects the candidates we will be allowed to vote for. Voting in this country is meaningless.

Stand back just a bit and see the entire machine in motion, working inexorably towards its goal of final subjugation of the American economy and spirit.

I'd like to add this on the subject of conspiracies: an actual, wait-at-the-fax-machine-for-instructions conspiracy is not required. All that is required is a conspiracy of interests that is able to pre-select politicians who will function as "useful idiots." Are there any doubts in anyone's mind that most politicians truly are idiots, or at least are easily manipulated?

Those interests appear to be aligned along class. Obama might be bright, even clever, but he is only a cog in the machine and not its master.

Posted by: SWRichmond at March 25, 2011 5:31 AM

In passing, I contemplated the limits of what this President could get away with, marshal law? suspended elections?-I realized that 2 years ago, his current accomplishments in that regard seemed just as impossible.

Lengthy Ranter or GloryofLiberty, Is there someplace where I can read more of what you are saying? I've checked out bits and pieces that you've said, and it has taught me some things I did not know. I would like to fit these pieces into the jigsaw puzzle that i've been putting together for several years now, but it would be helpful if I could ask specific questions.

As for the Government, I have much experience with government employees. As a general rule, they don't want to do anything that resembles work or effort. They just want to draw their pay, and increase it somehow if possible. Ambitious hard working people generally don't pursue careers in government. They work to create a business or something. I am completely unsurprised by the lack of due diligence on the part of the authorities you attempted to contact. The fact that a whole bunch of authorities dropped the ball regarding Obama is self evident. 50 state election officials did not perform their duties when they didn't demand verification of the man's credentials.

Anyway, I would like to talk to you further. If you could name a website that you frequent, i'll go there and continue this discussion.

On the primary topic of this thread and response by commenter, I agree with SWRichmond's assessment of the main problem being that of the Hive mind, but it is not just restricted to the Washington crowd. The hive mind extends throughout the Media and entertainment industries, (Education establishment et al) and THEY are the reason completely unqualified @sswipes (like Obama) can manage to get elected. People like Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, and Andy Griffith (Celebrities) use their prestige to influence the gullible, which unfortunately are all too common.

I still think Obama is a special class of stupid, but I also think he is malicious. I think his activities are easily explained by a combination of both.

Gerard

I usually link your seminal articles to the London Spectator's blogs (the Coffee House Wall) in particular, or occasionally Melanie Phillip's blog which is now also located there. As this essay resonated so much with my own take, I linked this one to the CH Wall in its entirety (for some reason some regular CH commenters have difficulty linking with AD if not located in the UK),

Commenter 'Andy Car Park' came back with this:

"Sorry, Frank. I have the greatest respect for your background as an expert in criminal psychology [I don't plead guilty to that, btw] but I thought much of the article you posted read like sub-Korskian gibberish. By way of a sample and freely admitting my ignorance of how this idiom is supposed to work:

“The damage to NATO and the Western alliance will be considerable, even leaving aside Turkey’s feelings.

1. Damage flowing from what – what has already been done, what will possibly follow, what will inevitably follow, or other?

2. How is the ‘Western alliance’, as distinct from NATO, defined?

3. How can feelings, if States can be said to have feelings, mitigate or exaggerate damage?

4. What will cause whom to question?

5. Relied upon by whom?

6. ‘Regional hegemon’. As opposed to global hegemon? Define.

7. The question is being asked all over the world? Oh yeah, really? And so what if it is?

8. Aspiring regional powers. Names? How many are we talking about?

9. Do you mean ‘to fragment alliances which include the US’? Maybe. So what?

10. An ‘alliance’ is an object of the verb to Finlandize? Since when?

11. Getting whom to switch allegiances? Regional powers? Aspiring regional powers? Regional non-powers? Non-aspirational regional powers?

12. Switch allegiances to whom? See (11) for choices. Add some of your own.

13. Handing what to whom on a silver platter? Alliances? Regional powers? Finland?

14. Carpets. I’ll give you carpets but only out of sheer fatigue.

15. Immediate predecessors or sequence of predecessors?

16. Whose faith in what?"

I responded thus:

Andy Car Park.

Whoops - sub-Korskian* gibberish - eh? Rather than attempting to reassess my own favourable impression of Gerard's attempt to plumb the depths of Obama's malign motivations and the inappropriate machinations of the West's reaction to the Middle East eruptions, I've passed on your interesting questions to Gerard and asked him to respond. Actually the passage you cited came from Richard Fernandez on the Belmont Club, so two frames of context would have to be aligned, I guess, to answer your queries.

My general approach to 'the idiom' as you describe it is "I like, therefore I link." Not as profound as Descartes one liner, but probably - er - linked.

If Gerard decides not to address your questions then, as I had the temerity to quote his essay in full, I'll have a crack at it myself. However, in the meantime, I strongly repudiate any Korskian, let alone sub-Korskian influence in the American Digest set-up. Chalk and cheese, imho. But thanks for your interest anyway. So far, I haven't seen your take on Libya and the Soros influenced 'R2P' doctrine which would appear to be driving it. Did I miss it, or are you keeping your powder dry?

Thanks Frank. Whew. I got pulled up sharp by the "sub-Korskian gibberish." phrase as well. I'd presume, but cannot know, that he's referring to Daniel Korski of The European Council on Foreign Relations. Still, it's a telling turn of the phrase and what it tells is not pretty. Whenever you see locutions such as that you know you are dealing with a terminal case of intellectual insanity. There's no real arguing with such a mental case. It's Stalinized down to the core and impervious to argument.

The extensive list of questions are right out of the Standard Edition of Leftoid blather (Who Whom, etc.) and little is served by engaging. It is the kind of a mind that can only be altered, as Stalin knew, by the full Beria.

Posted by: vanderleun at March 25, 2011 9:13 AM

Well, I did make it over there but I'd decline, in general, to spend a lot of time engaging the fellow. He doesn't want answers. He wants a Monty Pythonesque visit to the Argument Bureau where his only choice is "The five-minute argument or the full half-hour."

Posted by: vanderleun at March 25, 2011 9:20 AM

To be a bit clearer about this fellow's "Little List:" I don't usually find it profitable to engage spew such as this on a point by point basis. In this case even less so since he seems to have keyed into Richard Fernandez' posting, Suez II, at the Belmont Club. Although the questions are really just a row of clay pipes slowly flowing by in a shooting gallery, it really isn't my purpose to school such a mind in the concepts and views of Fernandez and the Belmont Club. Fernandez is one of the most original thinkers and linkers in the zone and his output is promethean. He knows whereof he speaks and this has been demonstrated over many years. I seldom quote him when I am not in agreement with or inspired by what he has written. Life is too short and lunch too long to school Andy.

And in any case long experience shows that he does not wish to be schooled only engaged so that he can reengage and that is a feeble hunger that is best not fed since it can never be satiated.

In addition, long time readers will note that this section is entitled, with intent, "Your Say." This is because I have usually had, especially in this case, my say at length and without interruption.

Lastly I am mindful of the continuing motto of the comments here that "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood."

That said it is again.... Your Say.

Posted by: vanderleun at March 25, 2011 9:36 AM

She was the loudest drill instructor cum-grandmother one could imagine. ALWAYS dressing Barry down over something -- and in public spaces, too! ( And yes, she addressed him as Barry not Barack.)

The local paper did a snap shot bio on her. They bounced around the bush WRT her tyrannical personal style.

That imprinted 'management style' is now running in Obama's head if any of the stories leaked from the White House are true.

-----

Our man shows all of the traits of a Gonnabee:

-----

Status Seeking Reactive-Dependent

Apparent objective: To show outstanding achievement.

Real objective: To win 'big shot' status in order to compensate for feelings of inferiority.

Weaknesses: Overweening ambition. Emotionally weak, overdependent. Erratic judgement, entirely self-absorbed. Self destructive.

John Wareham

--------

When placed in an executive role Gonnabees usually go up like rockets and fall back like sticks.

The Gonnabees that I've had the discomfort to encounter have always been fantastically destructive.

They end up being savant-idiots: screwing up constantly -- and then expertly shifting the blame.

Paralyzed for lack of executive skills they normally appear fantastically lazy, but this is not the case. Between their ears their hamster is running full tilt trying to stay afloat in a sea of manipulation -- their only true craft.

------

John Wareham has more to say about Gonnabees:

Gonnabee under pressure.

Because of their inability to live in the real world, gonnabees are inherently unsuited to perform any kind of high-pressure management role, and things usually start to go wrong from the time they receive such an appointment. The reason is that whenever gonnabee 'gets to be,' the pampered child immediately takes over, making terrible and often infantile decisions. Then, when the off-the-wall directives create or compound problems, the gonnabee angrily or entirely breaks down.

break

...However, NEVER give a gonnabee a REAL president's role, for this will surely sink the enterprise....

-----

ALL of the Democrat Party insiders must have seen enough to know that Barack was a gonnabee of the first water. Hence, Pelosi's role expansion -- Obamacare should be termed the Pelosi-Reid Act.

buddy larsen:

The story is the Silver Short!

J.P. Morgan has a fantastic, impossible position shorting the silver market.

Silver is moving ever higher.

Blythe's hedge in copper is coming a cropper. It's trading as an industrial metal -- not as specie to be.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzyXn8t0plM&feature=player_embedded

The above is making the rounds at Zero Hedge. Its author has ridden silver up from $9 to $37. At some point Blythe is going to have to cover her shorts -- at horrific loses so great that the 'Morgue' is toast.

J.P. Morgan and Chase were at the heart of the 19th Century Money Trust. (tm) [ J.P. founded Chase. ]

The Clinton mis-administration permitted the Money Trust (tm) to re-congeal all as a mechanism to survive impeachment and to expand - vastly - the effective scope of CRA Policy. De facto the Money Trust (tm) became an arm of the Democrat Party, funding their projects off the government books ( F & F ) ( CRA ) while scalping the investor class as a whole. [ Assumed to be weighted Republican.]

Our financial markets have never been more corrupted -- which for the Democrat Party is a feature -- not a bug.

Democrat, high profile corporations go from strength to strength: GE pays no taxes, has inside seat in D.C.

It's Chicago on the Potomac!

Carter once opined that America should have a government that it deserved. Now that's vicious!

several of the White House's agencies, in a race-to-the-bottom competition with another Administration-sponsored force (BP) operating against the unfair southern states whose sunshine is exactly what has destroyed the blue states, have sold thousands of automatic weapons to Latino crime cartels, hoping that if Mexico, whose citizens are getting shot to pieces by these weapons, will, if Mexico finds out about it, realize that they are only Mexicans, so what difference does it make? I mean, compared to the utter joy of getting rid of the USA's 2nd Amendment?

I linked here from MOTUS blog, and have never been on your site before. I'll be back! Your article is spot on.

My son's battalion (USMC) is on the ships off the coast of Libya, from which the flights are being launched. My son is one of very few who did not deploy, but all his buddies are over there. They returned in October from a hellacious tour in Helmand, AFG. 17 didn't come home, and too many came home as double and triple amputees. I resent the hell out of having BHO play with them like a toy. A snap of the fingers! Their battalion was on alert for the month of Feb. They were on 1 hour notice...living with bags packed and no booze! The Marines got them over there in just a couple days time. It usually takes a week to deploy a battalion. All because BHO wanted to see if he could do it.

My husband has been saying for about a year that Obama will find a way to suspend elections in 2012. Who would stop him? Even our new Tea Party people are caving and going along with Boehner, so the strength we voted for is evaporating. We were promised courage and a fight. We ain't getting it.

Like a number of commenters, we in this household live with a constant sense of dread. We keep working to do what we can. My personal mission is to get rid of our congressman, who has behaved like a star-struck groupie toward Obama. Yet the guy claims to be a moderate Blue Dog. He won by absolutely smearing our GOP candidate while completely avoiding any discussion of issues. Our local media allowed him to get away with it all. We are not only fighting the ugliest part of the left, but the media as well.

What else is frightening me comes from spending hours on phone banks and going door to door in 2010 elections. So many people just don't care! They want whatever check they get, and in KY, there are lots of "free" checks getting cashed every month. The fact that so many are sitting around like chickens in a pen waiting to be fed is alarming. They will continue to vote for BHO's spending until the day the whole thing crashes. Then they will scream the loudest. These must be the people who keep BHO's numbers up. Rasmussen last week reported that 47% polled think that Obama is doing an excellent or good job at leadership. This also scares me to death.

I know I'm re-stating what so many have said, but it feels good to type it out! I'm mad as hell, scared to death, and willing to go to the mat. I'm sick of these people beating up on my kids, indeed on all our families. BHO is a diabolical mental case; our military is legally bound to do his bidding even at their own peril; impeachment is impossible. This big picture makes me grateful to find people like many of you commenters who are logical, ethical, and SMART people! I don't know you, but I'm here, standing with you! Thanks one and all!

Posted by: buddy larsen at March 27, 2011 8:56 AM

The reason I think folks prefer to argue "he's being stupid" rather than "he's being deliberately evil" is that if you accept the premise that the president is being deliberately evil, you accept the possibility that you might have to treat him accordingly, with all that potentially implies. And that's...not a pleasant thought. Not that the idea of having an idiot in the Oval Office is particularly pleasant, but it beats having somebody evil in there any day of the week.

Posted by: Rich Fader at March 27, 2011 11:37 AM

It seems BHO is more dangerous without the congressional control he had last term. He is venturing into the waters of pure one-man dictatorial power. Before, he at least had the ruse of congressional consent. That has been stripped away. I would bet my last nickel that he LOVES it this way. He can have it all his way, no one to have to consult, or with whom to share the "glory". Just do it, take it, order it, whatever he desires. "It's ME, it's ALL ME!!!!"

Is he the cat you dare not bell, in which case it's probably all over, or if you push hard enough will you go through a paper tiger?

Posted by: A. non Imous at March 27, 2011 10:42 PM

It's good to see that many others see the situation the same way that I do.

My family also lives with a sense of dread. My husband is a retired army lieutenant colonel whose best friend is a full colonel who turned down the chance to make general. Both of them were armor officers. His friend thinks that there will be thousands of people getting out of the military when the new homosexual friendly rules take effect. I hope my husband doesn't end up getting called back to active duty because we have so many war weary troops who are tired of being jerked around by their PC chain of command.

The other issue we worry about is Obummercare because we have a child with multiple disabilities. We can only afford Tricare (military insurance) and we are already losing covered services for our daughter. They no longer pay for her eye care but she will go blind without proper care. We are trying to raise her to live with her disabilities and make something of herself, but I'm sure that under Obummercare the government would rather she just die.

I made many phone calls for the local Republicans during the last election and I was also dismayed to find out how many people don't care or are just downright hostile. We had great success here in north Alabama. Republicans won back both houses of the legislature for the first time in 136 years so I do believe that there is hope if enough of us get involved.

I don't think Obummer will be able to cancel the next election but I'm sure that the Demoncrats will be busy stuffing all the ballot boxes they can. I do wonder if the next Republican president will have to order the military to remove Obummer and his cronies from the White House so he can take office.

Posted by: Sheri at March 29, 2011 3:21 PM

Well put, Gerard. I've been watching people like Rick Moran call everyone deranged who even asks questions about Obama's motives. Of course, I've spent the time questioning the sanity of people like Rick Moran.

Barry can inflict almost permanent damage before January 2013. And with the MFM acting as unpaid-so far as I can prove- supporters again, he's got a 10%-15% cushion going into the election cycle. The thought of what a second Obama term could do leaves me cold.

Sorry to say but the Bust of Churchill was not returned to the British it was placed in storage and replaced with a bust of Lincoln. What could be more American than that?

"even an American president, order and carry out an American military mission without even bothering to ask the American congress if it minds his messing about in a foreign country. In essence, one man in one day set in motion the power of the American military without any of the barest of rituals that normally come before. For conservatives to say that he is unfit to be Commander-in-Chief is to"

Sorry to say that wont FLY (pun intended)

Win or lose, you and Fernandez and a few other demonstrate that truths are beautiful things and all the greater in contrast.

Obama, give him credit, has never been concerned about hanging with communist revolutionaries, or even proposing them as Czars or Supreme Court Justices. Obama is malice, as are the revolutionaries (reactionaries in truth). The incompetents fill out his administration as useful idiots. When has it ever been done otherwise?

Lenin-
We must hate. Hatred is the basis for Communism.

What is far more important than what he is is what have become. Has the revolutionary malice grown too confident and exposed itself prematurely, or do they have it right? I think they needed one more generation to put this in the bag. They need to elect Romney now and get back to the plan.

Edmund Burke-
Tell me what the prevailing sentiments that occupy the minds of your young peoples, and I will tell you what is to be the character of the next generation.

I maintain that the current administration was and has been executed as a long thought out and highly detailed plan intended to bring down the Republic.

The devolution from republic to socialism that began with TR in the early 1900's is supposed to be capped by the collapse of our institutions of government and society brought upon by the willing and overt sabotage inflicted by the thousands of apartchiks installed by Obama over the last three years.

Endless regulation, often contradictory, always aimed at stripping business of profit, stripping the citizen of freedom (under the guise of "caring"), and ham handed unequal administration of what laws already exist - all aimed at bringing collapse.

There was never a second term envisioned. It's all been all in, one time only. If there is a follow on plan, it is along the lines of the Wellstone effect, if not some obscene regurgitation of "Camelot".

One term was what they needed, and that's all they will get. They are cool with that. They have executed their plan. The Republic has turned out to have surprisingly strong foundation... but not even stone can survive the fury of dynamite.

There was never a chance that Congress would impeach, convict, and remove. We have already fallen too far to expect that institution to do its minimum duty.

Freedom is another word for responsibility.

We now reap what we have sewn.

Wow, did you hit a nerve or what??

I think you are spot on. What kind of
conceit do we have on the right to believe
that our opposition on the left has ultimately
the same goals and objectives that we have for
this experiment called freedom??

We tend to lend our own context to the left and
say to ourselves...

"same goal just a different path
they set"

Hold on to your hat over the next year.

All of us in the West have assumed for almost three millennia that madness is necessarily demonstrated in irrationality. But, in fact, a person can be totally mad and act and speak in the way Obama has. Indeed, the combination of overt stupidity and seemingly hidden malice can most correctly be defined as madness. But the condition of madness in the President of the most powerful country in the world is also the most frightening conclusion an American could come to, so no one comes to this conclusion.

I don't recall what in the article specifically raised the hair on my neck along with every red flag in my mind, but I did say to friends and family that if Obama were indeed elected POTUS in 2008, that would empower the left in ways we could not even begin to imagine.

In bypassing the rituals, Obama has set a precedent, one that will be repeated next time under an even flimsier pretext.

It should also be noted that this Libya adventure sets a precedent for interfering in another nation's civil war on the side of a dubious and unidentified group of insurgents.

With this precedent now set, what is to stop Russia or China from organizing an insurgency, similar to the one that operated in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia's South Ossetia, and then following a claim that the national government is massacring civilians, use the Libya adventure as a precedent to overthrow a nearby government and install their own insurgents as the new puppet government answering to Moscow or Beijing?

Chris Matthews whined recently that Obama won't tell him his plans - for this or his second term. Mr. Matthews is upset that his "Commander" is keeping him and his in the dark.

But Obama DID tell us what he was about, either directly or through his minions. All one had to do was to listen. It’s called de-development of the United States (or The Great Satan, or whatever). Everything this administration has done since 2008 was designed to reduce this country to powerlessness, to install Obama (or another like him) as El Jefe Supremo and to inflict a Permanent Democratic majority (read "One-Party Rule") on us.

Any child who grew up behind the Iron Curtain (as I did) could read Obama's words correctly from the very first.

I have long been fascinated with the extent to which conservatives are struggling to understand this man. I don't remember that with any other president, and I remember a lot of presidents. The media always did their "psychoanalysis" of presidents and candidates, which influenced observers, but was usually way off.

The most important observations for me have come from Richard Epstein, who knew him at University of Chicago and through his next-door neighbor who was Obama's close friend.

Epstein said that Obama had the most perfect disposition, complete self-control. He keeps his thoughts to himself. He never puts his ideas out there to be discussed or challenged, and therefore never has to defend them or grasp where he was wrong. He imitates an intellectual.

Everyone who has met with Obama describes the way he listens intently and makes you feel that he is really hearing you. When the conversation is over, he will summarize what you have said, and offer a twist on your idea. Epstein says that he plays a clever game of intellectual poker.

He has a clever means-ends mind, Thinks redistribution can take place without any adverse effects. He is a man of the left who will throw bones to the center, and a fierce competitor who sees no reason to compromise with Republicans.

He is very dogmatic and does not change his mind. His ideas are set in concrete. What the founders understood was separation of powers as a tool for slowing things down. Obama has no respect for the separation of powers, thus there is no brake on his actions. Cultural and legal restraints are swept aside. He does not have the skill set required for the office. See "Uncommon Knowledge, April 2, 2009, available in the archives @ NRO.

Victor Davis Hanson wrote recently of Obama's "Imaginarium"— the inner fantasy world. Peter Wehner also has played with a similar idea. And Barry Rubin has some important observations at PJ Media on Obama's dreadful misunderstanding of the entire Middle East.

The most successful (as defined by gigantic) conspiracies now involve the greatest numbers of people. These are the new democratic conspiracies--life under universal suffrage. Examples abound. As Tocquiville saw, the more freedom people have to do what they want, the more they will strive to be like one another. Conservatives completely fail to understand the dynamics of democracy. Malice sees only opportunity.

Most people are volunteers to be part of the happening group, if only as drones. The clever and malicious have learned the ropes and made it into art. It was prophesied detail by detail in 1835, and confirmed through different eyes in every generation since.

Posted by: james wilson at April 22, 2013 10:57 AM

Posted by: Rich Fader at April 22, 2013 3:18 PM

"By extension, the most successful conspiracies would involve a very few people with a lot of access to money and power. Taking one more step, one would have to posit that the perfect conspiracy would not involve even a few people, but only one person with access to money and power."

On the other hand, there is the conspiracy that is right in your face, telling you exactly what the plans of the conspiracy are, with possibly millions of conspirators working in differing capacities in the conspiracy, mostly out in the open, but knowing full well that the average citizen outside of the conspiracy is too afraid of being thought a racist, a hater, or (worst of all) a right-winger, to admit that this conspiracy exists. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Islam.

He is not just malicious, he is vicious in his intent. He hates white America, period. He hates its history, institutions and culture. This was obvious from the start. What thoughtful people seem not to understand is that the organizing principles of the American Constitution were a conspiracy against human nature and not an historic triumph in it's favor. It was very successful for a lifetime or two and we got to thinking it was natural. As Hayek put it, all advances in civilization are through learned experience overcoming the force of human instinct. The conspiracy back against the Founding has the most natural support in the world.
