Jon Stewart: Schmuck, Putz, Liar, Fraud or All Four?

I always love the moment when the carefully constructed media mask slips off and we get to see the "star's" real face. Jon Stewart, long a staple of the "too cool too fool" generation of know-nothings had his moment this weekend when we saw emerge from his carefully constructed schtick his more carefully hidden ugly face:

Jon Stewart loses his cool with Fox News host Chris Wallace: 'You are insane'

After repeated prodding, Wallace then played a clip of Mr Stewart comparing a video of Sarah Palin's recent bus tour to a herpes commercial.
Mr Stewart erupted: 'You're insane... Here's the difference between you and I.
'I'm a comedian first. My comedy is informed by an ideological background, there's no question about that. But the thing that you will never understand...is that Hollywood, yeah, they're liberal, but that's not their primary motivating force. I'm not an activist. I am a comedian.'
Addressing issues of bias in the main stream media, Stewart responded: 'Do I want my voice heard? Absolutely, that's why I got into comedy. Am I an activist, in your mind? A partisan ideological activist.
Well, yes Jon. Now that you ask. You know it and we know it and now, if they care, the world knows it.

Concerning the "comedian first" claim commenter Tim rightly asks: "Don’t comedians actually…ah…perform comedy. I mean, point me to Jon Stewart’s body of comedy work, less The Daily (BS) Show. Where’s the comedy tours/CD’s, the list of gut busting movies, the years on SNL or something equivalent, the laugh track yuk yuk sitcom(s)…? Hell, what about some inane “reality” show or pathetic game show emcee gig…anything that proves to me that Jon Stewart actually deserves that seemingly self given title of “comedian”."

“'I'm a comedian first.”

Don’t comedians actually…ah…perform comedy. I mean, point me to Jon Stewart’s body of comedy work, less The Daily (BS) Show. Where’s the comedy tours/CD’s, the list of gut busting movies, the years on SNL or something equivalent, the laugh track yuk yuk sitcom(s)…? Hell, what about some inane “reality” show or pathetic game show emcee gig…anything that proves to me that Jon Stewart actually deserves that seemingly self given title of “comedian”.

‘Cause I don’t think appearing on some show where all your “comedy” material is written for you with some deliberately misleading and heavily edited video clips all combined with laughs courtesy of kids who either just became of legal age to vote or drink necessarily automatically make one a “comedian”. There’s other names for that but “comedian” isn’t one of them.

The entitlement mentality runs deep and wide in the liberal celeb circles. He's not so funny without his audience of trained circus seals, is he? Main stream comedy - yawn. I need a George Carlin fix.

I guess he took off the clown nose there.

i watch Jon Stewart almost every night in order to rebut his liberal BS because my impressionable daughter and libtard spouse watch him too. [Separate sets and I also do enjoy JS's humor]. But he is a liberal through and through and he's dead above the neck when it comes to fairness. He puts down Hannity, who often has TWO liberals debating himself alone. Oxford PhD retardette Rachel Madcow never allows a conservative voice on her show.

Stewart wasn't funny on the Wallace Show and he's not as smart nor does he have the integrity of Hannity, let alone O'Reilly or other conservative icons on Fox. MessNBC has ZERO cred except among Kool-Aid addicts....

Chris Wallace punked him a couple of times. Wallace called him out on the "I'm just a comedian schtick."

Wallace also called him out on Stewart's "black" voice schtick; "Are you going to revive the Amos and Andy show?"

Stewart is a self-righteous liberal bungh01e.

Have you noticed how leftists always go hide when called out?

When they make outrageous, nasty political pronouncements on air, they hide behind the label "comedian." Obama "hid" (in plain view to many of us) his real worldview and mindset so he could become president. Academics and policy makers hide behind a pretense of moderation and "civility." Pacificists and other cowardly frauds hide behind the occasional "war hero" who expresses leftist views.

They're all vampires, and being out in the light terrifies them and makes them shrivel.

The only 'comedy' Stewart can own is his stint as an MTV video jockey, back in the day.

What a putz.

Craig Kilborne kicked Jon Stewart's butt on this show. Stewart is a hack, as is Colbert(?).

Ideologically pretentious pretenders, hiding themselves by trying to bury anyone who questions them. If they had any clue who their audience was, they would be ashamed of themselves.

OOPS! Sorry. No shame left on the left...

Although I liked Wallace in this interview, two things come to mind: 1) Stewart was correct about his ideology influencing him but not being his "only" or singular reason to exist; 2) that means nothing, as the issue here is the presence of a bias denied, not the question of whether Stewart let's his ideology be the only major influence in his career.

The entire point of showing the Stewart quote about how Fox was outrageous was to show Stewart in a biased light, which is fair and accurate. But it also showed the absurdity of Stewart's statement by making it appear Wallace believed the 24 hour nonstop outrage to be true, only about Stewart and his propaganda efforts and not Fox's.

The "hater" comments about Stewart in these comments were well-earned, but Stewart is a success, without question.

So is Olbermann, and his show was cancelled after he got fired. And he's most likely a miserable human being.

But I know his name, he's made lots of money legally, and how some level of power not many possess.

The first major clue that the tastes and expectation of college "educated" white people were deteriorating fast was the success of Dave Letterman. Carson was a liberal also, but from a different planet. Letterman and his audience conspired to convince each other they were all hip. Stewart is one piece of the proof that this thing has no bottom. They have found the pulse of the undead, no doubt.

I guess he took off the clown nose there.

Not really. Only he didn't know he was still wearing it.

I feel badly for Stewart. He seems to be a nice guy and is more aware than most Leftists--just not aware enough. When he finally figures it out--and I suspect he will--he is going to be one disillusioned man. It's coming.

Ahem, you might want to recast your remark based on this:

Weh...weh...waaaahhhhh!!!!

Myself, nothing tastes sweeter than the tears which result from this dishonest, cheapshotting, edit-them-to-make-them-look-stupid cocksucker getting some of his own shoved up his ass.

entitlement comedy = "if you don't think I'm funny it is because you are stupid". Third-grade politics. Welcome to the dumbing down of humor - and isn't dumbing down what the liberals do best?

Now now George... the Dems are not without drool dripping from their chins.

This is one of the funniest thread's I've ever seen. Stewart's so right about people being blinded from reality by the partisan soup of b/s they live in. Most of you people here are hopelessly blind to the bullshit the people you so look up to spew constantly from their being in a MAJORITY of what they do. Same goes for much of the left, but not as much as the right. You people are proof of that. This thread is a minuscule reminder of why the Daily Show matters. Enjoy your sad lives lost in the big partisan soup of bullshit.
