Teacher put on leave after threats to crash tea parties

PORTLAND -- A state board will investigate whether a Beaverton teacher was on his own time or using state resources while he organized liberals to crash Oregon tea parties. On Thursday, Jason Levin was put on paid leave by the Beaverton School District. Levin has gotten national attention for a "Crash the Tea Party" Web site that called for opponents to infiltrate the events and behave outlandishly. That raised suspicion he was doing political work during schools hours. Beaverton School District spokeswoman Maureen Wheeler confirmed Levin was placed on paid administrative leave as of Thursday while they conduct an internal investigation into his actions during work time. When asked for what reasons, she said "We all know what it is."
Break the wind, reap the whirlwind.

I am shocked, shocked, to find that a teacher is doing political work during schools hours.

What I fear is that he's been place on paid leave pending a promotion to Asst. Superintendent of Curriculum for his school district.

Cheaters never prosper? Bovine excrement. Several thousand merchant bankers, a probably larger number of mortgage brokers, just about all British MPs and just about the whole of both houses of Congress give the lie to that.

Compared to the Wunch collapsing the world's financial system for personal gain, this man's activities are small-time.

It may have been (a) the use of school property for personal use, and (b) asking for crashers to get names, addresses, and social security numbers of Tea Party people on one post (that has, I think, been deleted).

(a) is a no-no; (b) is very bad - Identity Theft bad. I am sure the school district's lawyers went three shades of berserk when they learned of either (a) or (b).
