Fools Rush In Where Fools Have Been Before: The Obama That I Used to Know

You can get addicted to a certain kind of message
Like this is change we can believe in, yes we can
But college ended, had to pay my rent
At least you're the first gay president
But the change I got was that I moved in with my mother

Andrew Jackson was the first person with American Indian ancestry to serve as President of the U.S. Which makes him the first non-white to serve as President. (Think about it. :) )

Funny you mention Jackson.

I knew almost nothing about him, so I recently finished reading a biography of him. He was very much a "state's-rights" federalist, and yet, he also believed that the Union must be preserved. He believed that if states were able to succeed, that they would align themselves with the other powers of the day--Spain, France, Britain--and the nation on the continent in front of him would be imperiled. That just struck me as a dichotomy. How did he allow states to have their rights and yet not have the right to leave the union?

My curiosity was piqued by his face being on our $20 currency. When he vetoed the re-charter of our then-central bank as unconstitutional, he (unknowingly, IMO) set us on a course of prosperity. After it lost the central bank status, the Second Bank of the U.S. paid out on the bonds that they had sold, which gave the U.S. the reputation of "the full faith and credit of the U.S.". Personally, I think the Fed is mocking him by keeping his face on that bill.

BTW, Gerard, I love the video, and hope the sentiment is widespread.
